Friendliest staff ever!

Oct 9th, 2019

Easy access from the highway. The hotel is clean with a nice parking lot. The staff right from the start was the friendliest I have ever seen. Seriously, every single one of them spoke to us, ask if we need anything, ask if we were having fun and just general great attitudes. The only issue was the elevators need a little attention. One was not working and the other sketchy... But the staff here made up for it. If everyone in Shreveport has this attitude I might move there! The elevators are what caused me to give it a 4. Otherwise it was great. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

New Management

Oct 8th, 2019

The hotel was an ex BW hotel (about 6-8 weeks). The staff were outstanding in all areas. There were teething problems: the ice machines in 3 areas were broken, the breakfast juice machine broke down, normal IHG breakfast items were missing. However, the staff overcame all the problems and made us feel welcome. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

To begin, I chose this hotel because it’s new (from the looks of it, gutted and completely refurbished), and new means clean! I drove from the Shreveport Airport and used my GPS to get there. I entered “Holiday Inn Downtown Shreveport” and it took me to the Holiday Inn that is directly across the street from the actual hotel I was staying in. When I went to the check-in desk they informed me that I’m actually at the hotel across the street. Make sure you enter “Holiday Inn Express & Suites Shreveport Downtown” if using GPS. The regular Holiday Inn has prominent signage, whereas the one I was saying at is hard to see. After a 5 minute drive (bc of one way streets) to where I was staying, I walked into a very bright, clean, beautiful lobby, and was greeted by a very friendly concierge. Check-in was smooth and quick, but lacking in a few things that I have come to expect as a gold level IHG Rewards member. She didn’t thank me for being a member, she didn’t tell me about the 300 bonus points I received just for checking in (I found out in an email), she didn’t tell me anything about accessing the wi-fi, where and when the complimentary breakfast is, or what time I am supposed to check out the next morning. Maybe that’s why my check-in was so quick. Upon entering my room, I was overwhelmed by the smell of chemicals. Now don’t get me wrong! I would much rather smell that than stale, musty carpets. But you know how sometimes when you sit in an area of a smell for so long that you just don’t notice it anymore. This didn’t happen in my room. I noticed it the entire time, and it was a bit abrasive. Hopefully they end up switching to more natural cleaning products that aren’t so overbearing. & when I think about it, they might have just cleaned the carpets and that’s what the smell was. Amenity-wise they have an outdoor pool, a gym that has treadmills and some free weights, and the continental breakfast area was large, spotless, and comfortable. Breakfast consisted of bacon, sausage, eggs, omelets, biscuits, and an out of order pancake machine. & check out was easy for me bc I just use the app. Overall, a great hotel. Once they get the check-in better they’ll be a full star review. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
