Excellent well located chateau

Sep 14th, 2020

Beautiful hotel with lovely lake view, exceptIonally large room which appears to have been modified to be very minimalistic in view of Covid. It felt clean and made us feel very secure. Breakfast was out on the lakefront terrace, and had everything we could have wished for. Parking available on the property if you are lucky to find a spot. Look out for the hidden pool on the first level...very private. We will most definitely return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

3 days in Lausanne Ouchy

Aug 24th, 2020

Château d’Ouchy is a great place to stay. In front of the lake and next to the metro going downtown. Nice pool, nice restaurant and even a little parking. Old building with nice renovation. Staff is friendly. Quite expensive but in line with Swiss standards. Breakfast on the terrace on front of the lake is great. Perfect for 2-3 night’s TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Even if you know that it is not really a castle, in view of the price you have a certain expectation of this house. Outwardly, the fiction is true, but the inner values do not meet the expectations. The pool is a paddling pool and the lobby is definitely not a castle. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Lunch on the terrace

Jul 27th, 2020

Nice lunch on the terrace and very close to the lake. Menu is - for Switzerland - imaginative. I have never seen clam chowder or crab cakes on a menu here before (though maybe the middle of summer is not the best time for clam chowder!) Had both and both were delicious and nicely presented. The hotel itself is a bit of a "rabbit warren" and it is not easy to find one's way around. Would I eat there again? Maybe not - the food at the Café Beau Rivage is much better and quite a bit less expensive... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overpriced, average and a disappointment with the leisure facilities

Feb 29th, 2020

Booked to stay at the Chateau as a birthday treat, having stopped by the bar for drinks a few years ago & liked the ambience. I booked direct by phone and stressed that we wanted pool, sauna and hammam facilities to relax the next morning. I opted to pay a bit more for a deluxe room - which turned out to be overlooking the bins and car park. First thing we spotted was a note saying the Chateau's pool was outdoor and closed, and the sister hotel's indoor pool and facilities were closed for refurbishment. This was never mentioned when I made my booking (a week earlier), even though I'd stressed this was the reason for choosing the Chateau d'Ouchy. The next morning we looked into the sauna and hammam in the Chateau - but were dismayed to find a small sauna and tiny hammam box squeezed into a small, cold, uninviting room, neither switched on and both needing half an hour warm-up time. We didn't bother. If you're looking for morning relaxing spa and leisure don't bother with the Chateau (or the Beau Rivage sister hotel). We wished we'd booked into the Hilton over the lake in Evian where we've stayed before, has excellent leisure & spa, and which is a fraction the price of the Chateau. Aside from this disappointment the ambience at the Chateau is lovely and service is excellent. The location is superb, right on the lake by the ferry and metro terminals, and in summer would be fabulous. There are interesting sculptures and artwork, and it's a nice refined atmosphere. The room looked imposing, heavy old oak door, high ceiling, comfortable bed, but maintenance was a bit lacking - a sharp-sided gap in the floor boards for example. Room facilities also poor - for the price paid, and with Nestle just down the lake, you'd think they'd put a Nespresso machine in the room and not a couple of sticks of instant coffee. Breakfast was too expensive to contemplate, so we went to a cafe over the road instead. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
