Keep driving

Jun 26th, 2020

The entire facility felt dirty. The room was was seemingly clean yet dingy. The TV was setting on a shelf, leaning against it's one time mount and had a crack down the right side of the picture. The carpet was threadbare. The windows didn't latch properly and the traffic noise was constant. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

scariest experience of my life

Sep 9th, 2019

I have never been so terrified entering an establishment in my life! From the disgusting cracked out prostitute's out the front to the weird old men asking if a had a bottle opener I was then told by a lady passing by on the street that I was not safe at this place and if I was ok or needed help. My Uber driver who picked me up then proceeded to tell me that he was surprised I didn't get shot or worse. This is known as the worst place in the area. They also charged me $99 instead of the advertised rate online and when I called to request a refund I was told by some dropkick on the phone that the manager wouldn't be in for 4 days so call back then - no online contactable information provided. NO HOT WATER IN SHOWER I left the 'hotel' after an hour of being there! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not a bad place, not great either. The noise is quite loud and there is no elevator. If you want an inexpensive place to stay however it will suffice for the night. I would not spend a week here however. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Why was all of the furniture pushed to the walls of the room?

Sep 2nd, 2019

My mom and I had accidentally cancelled our Airbnb the night before our flight out of anchorage and we were looking for a place to stay late that evening. We found the Chelsea Inn and booked a room thinking it was nice that it was close to the airport. On the way to the hotel, our Uber driver stated that he had never heard of, or been to the Chelsea Inn (first red flag). He pulls up to the hotel with a number of questionable-looking people standing in front of the door - he asks us if we really want to get out. We probably should have gauged that better and stayed in the car. Upon being given a roll of toilet paper for the shared bathrooms (didn't have a change to check these out unfortunately), we get into our room which is in the basement of the building. The door of the room is propped open with a chair - honestly, I thought my life might end right there. All of the furniture in the room was eerily pushed to the perimeter of the room (refrigerator, table, chairs, dresser, and lamp). I am not sure why, but that creeped the hell out of me. The room was actually quite large and the bed was pushed to the far back corner. Our dead bolt as well as the lights in the room did not work and so we left. We called the manager the next morning and were thankfully refunded once the situation was explained. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing and Gross

Aug 22nd, 2019

What kind of establishment charges an extra $10 for a private bathroom? The smell... Like stale underwear that's been worn for 3 weeks coupled with Tracy's ash tray in that trailer park you're too afraid to visit anymore. The bed feels like it's been here since before Alaska was a state, and the lady at the desk was so overwhelmed by me checking in and another lady asking for an additional towel. "Sorry there's just so much going on right now." Lord help her if she ever gets a real job with real stress. Not to mention her attitude was condescending for someplace as ghetto as this. Literally the only benefit is that it cost over half of anywhere else. Oh, and it's 10:48 P.M. and a train horn is going off nearly right outside my window. I can hear a smoker in the hallway hacking up his lung, and it is as hot as the furnace that heats Hell in here. Don't dare open the window, though, because I'm at ground level and this isn't exactly the greatest spot in town. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
