Great location

Great hotel with great food and bar service. We did get stuck in the elevator for about 20 minutes.. that would be my only issue with the property. Staff was excellent. Great area for walking the city TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

disappointing

Jun 9th, 2019

the location was great but the hotel seems to cater for business people. I paid a lot of money for a very small room. the hanging space for clothes was miniscule and no drawer space (ok for business traveler) nowhere to store suitcases. had breakfast one day but the service was slow didn't bother again. the staff are friendly and try to oblige but don't quite make it (lack of training?) finally, no receipt, they give a receipt by email- i'm still waiting one week later. bad service. Lovely Neighbourhood that is Centrally Located

Jun 1st, 2019

A quaint boutique hotel in a safe and upmarket part of Chicago. Perfectly suited to those that like to explore all the major attractions on foot over a 1-2 days. If feeling lazy, 'Lyft' ride share is popular here and relatively inexpensive or there is a metro station around the corner that takes you directly to town if you want to move around like locals. There are very nice restaurants nearby and a Walgreens on the street corner that is most convenient. The lobby is a nicely decorated and the staff are friendly. The room is cosy and well serviced each day. The bed is very comfortable. A desk, coffee machine and large wall mounted TV screen over it and facing the bed cleverly utilisers the tight spacing. We were on the top floor (14th) with a SW view of an apartment building several blocks away and city-suburbia-views on either side. The bathroom is small without a bathtub with an enclosed shower where the bathtub would be. It did the job. The built-in air conditioner was broken and it looks like maintenance came up with a 'MacGyver' solution with a portable air con unit with the hot air piped out one of the two windows with the aid of duct tape to hold in place! It was very effective for cooling but very noisy, was in the way an eyesore. We were fortunate in late May/early June to not need it at night otherwise the noise would have been a disaster for restful sleep. Perhaps this should have been disclosed to us on check-in at least out of courtesy. Breakfast was done with class, but if you want more variety in a more casual setting for any meal, there is a place next door below and apartment building called "3rd Coast". Would we come back? A definite maybe. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Friendly Hotel

May 31st, 2019

We stayed for two nights and had a lovely large room from which we could glimpse the lake. The bedroom was well equipped, with coffee maker. he decor and cleanliness was pristine. The staff were very helpful and the dinning prices were reasonable. The hotel was in a fairly quiet location but, near attractions, restaurants etc. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Last minute booking

May 19th, 2019

We had another hotel booked in another part of town it was not what we expected. From that hotel lobby I Called the Claridge House from reading the reviews and they were able to get me a room at a great price for the night. The hotel has all been updated the room was very nice and comfy and clean . They have a great coffee bar in the lobby which changes over to a great cocktail bar in the evening. The restaurant has a very good breakfast. I plan on coming to Chicago again and hope they can accommodate us again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
