beyond words

Feb 17th, 2020

We arrived early at the World Center Hotel and they already had an early check in room ready for us, but my mother is a little claustrophobic and the room we got only had a small window which made her feel a bit sick, so we went down to the lobby and talked to Serjio who was really kind and helpful. He was able to get us an amazing room with large windows for my mom and as a bonus a beautiful view! We were very happy and we recommend the World Center Hotel with its amazing staff for a full New York experience! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Quaint Hotel with Terrible Service

Feb 15th, 2020

For me, the service, human interaction and cleanliness is more important than how fancy the hotel is. The rooms are new and clean, but the friendliness of staff, willingness to help and general courtesy is well below par. The reception staff are rude, unhelpful and dismissive. Basic customer service training will go a long way to improve the overall ambience of the hotel. Respect and kindness are free! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice place

Feb 6th, 2020

I would recommend this hotel for the following reasons: Positives: Surrounding area is not crowded with tourists. Appears to be quite new, clean, and well maintained. Good lighting in the bathroom. TV in a good location across from the bed. Bed is comfortable. Offers food delivery services. Complimentary plastic water bottles and refilling station on each floor. The View of the world restaurant had good food and great views. Morton’s downstairs is super convenient but it does close at 10pm. Some TVs reset the volume to some default setting when you turn them on. This one was nice in that it didn't - it retains the same volume you set it to the last time it was on. The air con works well and the heat too Housekeeping replaced soaps which is nice especially if have two people in the room. They also didn’t move around any of my stuff which is also nice. I liked the area - the Financial district is just quieter than midtown, less traffic and less people on weekdays and just as many shops and restaurants as midtown. Because it was a quiet street out front, there was easy parking for Uber’s and cars stopping. It wasn't a mess of trying to find your uber in traffic, or having them complain that there's nowhere to stop. Also a Convenient location for going to the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges, Seaport and the ferry docks. And of course WTC, Westfield and the Oculus. Negatives: There was a Radio on the bedside table with a USB port but it didn’t work for charging phones. I was surprised that when I asked the front desk for assistance getting a cab, they said I had to go outside and hail one myself. Often doormen will go out and hail a cab for you. Noisy doors - a common issue I find where the doors are thin and you can hear everything through them, but also due to the layout of the hallways it often sounded like my door was being opened or closed but it was the next room over. The toilet Flush button/handle was difficult to press and reach because the counter was built so that there was very little space between the toilet tank and the shelf. My room was missing its do not disturb sign. The room was small (average for NYC hotel), but only felt a little cramped around the bathroom door because of how the closet is positioned and how the door opens. There was one floor to ceiling window which was bigger than a regular-sized door - but the curtains were impossible to tuck in so that the full window could be viewed and also there was a panel of adhesive paper on one side making it impossible to look through the window. In addition, the stick to draw one curtain was detached i.e. not usable. The Ceiling and wall corners of bathroom did have little stains and brown spots - probably humidity related. The shower unit was quite small and the shower head kept turning (on its own) to point at the shower curtain. They did advertise a lounge with snacks but there was not much available - some cereal and trail mix type of things. Elevators were a little slow. There were four - you go through a door to the 'other hotel' to use the other two elevators, but they are all the same speed. Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives, and I would stay here again for sure. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice room

Jan 18th, 2020

Check in time is strict regardless of room availability. If you arrive early, you will not have a room. That is fine as they tell us check in time. Many places will let you into your room if it is available earlier, this is not one. The room was great. Everything was great. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
