Labor Day weekend getaway
Sep 15th, 2020
As an experienced hotel operations manager, I really was disappointed with the overall customer service of this property. My first negative experience occurred BEFORE I even set foot on the property. I was about 30-50 minutes away from the hotel when I received a call from a front desk clerk saying that my credit card authorization did not go through and that I needed a new form of payment that instant or my room will be sold as it was Labor Day weekend and the hotel sold out. I understand the predicament the clerk was in however, I lock my credit card as I am afraid of being hacked or scammed. When I assured the clerk I was less than an hour away and I can provide the same card to authorize, she was very adamant that there may not be a room to arrive to if I did not provide a new method of payment. Is it Comfort Inn policy/ or the property management policy to receive credit card numbers over the phone and not a credit card authorization form? I found that very disappointing, I would never give my credit card number over the phone and this policy should change. Not to mention the attitude over the phone was not necessary. I walked through the lobby and absolutely no welcome. Not a how are you, welcome to the Comfort Inn, It was just a “can I help you?” Without a smile or any enthusiasm. I was given my keys and a map, but no WiFi instructions, Pool hours, or given any other amenity information. I checked into my room and the room was a bit outdated, which I could live with, my complaint isn’t about the outdated room. It’s about the attitude and the left over food in my refrigerator as well. I called the front desk to please have housekeeping remove it. I made a phone call later that night to get the WiFi information as I wasn’t given the code at check in. The clerk was a man this time and said the password so fast I asked him nicely to repeat himself. He then condescendingly “told.me.the.password”. I almost wanted to say I’m sorry for asking. At check out there was a totally different clerk, still, no how was your stay? Or may I help you with anything else? But, at least she smiled? The pros: nice view of the lake TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Nice for overnight stay

Room was clean, updated, and convenient location. Price affordable. We only wanted room for (1) night because we arriving late after the Ferry stop running to the Island. Breakfast included was a discount at local restaurant across the street due to Covid19 - which was ok with me. Was a bit disappointed because I assumed we would be able to see the water and the bridge from the hotel. But due to the city pier, it blocked the view of the bridge and there was no lights on around the water. But that was my fault for not inquiring more. I would not want to stay there for longer than a night because of this. Overall though, if you are looking for clean, comfortable room with a helpful, courtesy staff - I would recommend. New mixed with old

The beds are amazing! They really invested in upgrading the beds and they are super soft and comfy, but they need to bring the rest up to the same level. We didn't stay in the main hotel part, we were in a suite over the office and pool so maybe it's just different from the other rooms, I don't know, but I feel like the part of the hotel we stayed in needed new carpet and some wall paper was peeling and lots of cobwebs cleaned up to be worthy of the fabulous beds! Old, dirty, noisy and awful

The good: friendly staff, right on beach so kids can go splash in the water, ice machine worked. The bad: worst wi-fi in a hotel I have ever stayed at, no desk in room, decor old and horrible -- looks like it was last updated in the 1970s, no outlets anywhere, noisy, inadequate light in room, absurdly overpriced.
