Rooms not clean, bugs everywhere

The first room we had was dirty and not sanitized. The sink was filled with dirty water, there were lip marks on the glass, the tables had stains, the couch had stains. We switched rooms and that room had bugs everywhere. Stay away at all costs! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We stayed here while on vacation. The price was fair, but I was disappointed in several areas. The room stunk when we first got there. I told the kids that it may be their cleaning solution, and we stopped noticing it after a while, until we were gone for several hours. Then we had to go nose blind to it all over again, for each of the three days we were there. The outside door, near our room, was not secure. We just pulled it open without using any type of key. Our room key, on the other hand did not work for the pool doors and we had to have other guests let us in. The toilet had to be flushed two or three times every time we used it. And, we had the worst view (almost on purpose-I don't think the hotel was that crowded). We got to look out our first floor sealed window to the scenic view of a shipping container in the parking lot (four feet from the window). Piles of leaves and broken glass were all around. I don't know if they were remodeling or renting the parking space for storage (there were at least five or six containers on the property). In addition, many of the cable channels had no signal. On a positive note, they had packaged "hot" breakfasts available as well as pre-packaged donuts and danishes. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Goodness, where to start?! We got a decent deal on a room while in Pennsylvania visiting family - we stayed 2 separate times with sub-par experiences both times. They are undergoing renovations, which are needed, but also don't appear to be coordinated efficiently or for optimum guest experience. Rather than completing an entire section one at a time, they started with ripping out carpets across the entire hotel, then moved to painting. So basically, there is not a part that isn't undergoing renovation. They also don't heat the main areas, including hallways. We literally had to bundle up in our scarves, jackets and hats just to walk to breakfast and eat INSIDE the hotel. This was extremely uncomfortable. Our first stay, both rooms we got had serious issues. One had an extremely noisy and broken heater. The other smelled terribly of sewage. Both rooms had problems with the keys not working. We immediately asked to change rooms. Still, with new rooms, we had ongoing problems with the keys. And we weren't the only ones - every time we saw someone in the hallways they were struggling to gain access to their room. Every time we went to access our rooms, it took at least 10 tries swiping the card and hoping it would work (especially since the front desk is not close to many of the rooms). Since the rooms are being redone, they didn't have any paintings on the walls and no mirrors in the rooms, only bathrooms. Not a huge deal, but compounded with the other issues, it had a negative impact. Door was missing from the closet in one of our rooms and overall just shoddy rooms. Not sure if they've decided that smoke detectors aren't important, but THEY ARE! Our room the first stay didn't have a functioning detector and BOTH stays we had chirping detectors outside our rooms because they needed to change the batteries (and we were on different floors, different parts of the hotel each stay). Not only is this a safety issue, but we should not have to endure the sound of chirping alarms day and night in our room. The sound barriers are non-existent in the rooms. Walking the halls you can hear conversations inside rooms. Inside the rooms, we could literally hear every word from our neighbors. Breakfast was average - they had waffles, which I appreciate! But the cereal was stale and biscuits hard as a rock. The coffee and hot water at the front desk didn't seem to EVER get changed out. We attempted to make hot tea with the water only to realize it was not hot water. When I asked the front desk if they could replace with hot water, they told me they couldn't. Finally, I got them to fill up 2 cups with hot water from the back - which I appreciated, but if they can do that, they can change the damn hot water for the guests. I also asked if the coffee was fresh - meaning if it had been brewed recently - they said yes, but I got luke warm coffee that tasted like it had been sitting for over 5 hours. Why provide the coffee and hot water if it isn't usable/drinkable? We have stayed in some questionable accommodations before, but this was a terrible hotel experience that I would not recommend and would definitely not return. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This hotel is close to Pittsburgh International Airport. The staff was excellent and I loved the room. The hot breakfast was above my expectations. I do recommend staying at this hotel you will not be disappointed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
A nine-foot deep end!!!

The first thing I judge a hotel on is its swimming pool. As travelers know, the new trend in pools is to have a three foot "deep end." So I was THRILLED to find actual over-my-head water at the Comfort Inn in Pittsburgh. The pool was heated to a perfect temperature. My only complaint is that there were no towels so the first time I swam, I had to make a very chilly, drippy walk to my room. This hotel is a bit far from the University of Pittsburgh, where I was visiting my daughter, but the price was less than half of closer places. Even with Uber/Lyft factored in, it was still cheaper to stay here. The complimentary hot breakfast was very satisfying and there's also a bar/restaurant on site. I didn't have a chance to eat there but the drinks were reasonable. My room was spacious and clean, with a king-size bed, a comfy reading chair with ottoman and a desk. A microwave and refrigerator was helpful, as I stayed there for several days. I would definitely stay there again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
