We've stayed at this hotel several times over the past 7 years and have really liked it. Then last May we stayed and the pool and hot tub were not well maintained so that they weren't usable. I also had to report a "missing stay" so that we were given our reward points because this property didn't report them to Choice Hotels. We came back in July only because it was close to medical appointments I had in the medical center. Again, the pool and hot tub were not usable. We gave them one more chance last month on the 24th of January. When we checked in they told us my credit had already been charged because we used a third party to make the reservation. I told them, that I had used the Choice Hotels website as I always do. They were confused about this and did not resolve the issue. The hotel is under renovation although their website didn't state this when I made the reservation. The pool and hot tub are closed of course. Had I known this we would have stayed elsewhere. Choice Hotels is refusing to give us our reward points for staying at this property because they say we didn't check in. I've sent them the email confirmation and hotel receipt. They claim to be all about awarding their frequent customers for staying at their properties, but in this case they are doing the opposite. This property has a problem reporting those stays. I have one more reservation this weekend that I could not cancel because of their inflexible reservation requirements, then I am donating our points and deleting our account. I won't do business with people who make promises and then accuse us of lying about staying at a property that the incompetent staff didn't report properly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Nasty Smelling Room

We rented 2 rooms at this hotel Saturday night. (06/08/2019). we opened the door to the first room, and the smell was overwhelming. We immediately went to front desk,to ask for another room.I asked the desk person to go check the room,he declined, and said he would refund our money. It is 9:30 pm,I asked him if he could find us another somewhere, he declined. Now try to find another room at this hour. I tried to call comfort suites help line,after waiting 20 minutes i hang up. we ended up finding a very nice hotel in San Marcos,at 11:30 pm. I would never recommend,any hotel, that would rent a room,in this shape, to a family. This manager needs to do his job. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Two Great Visits - No Complaints

We chose this hotel for two trips and will choose it again for our next trip. Staff are friendly, rooms are clean, and the pool and hot tub were in clean, working order both trips. The breakfast is a bit below the quality of the Hampton a block away, but it's more than sufficient for the average traveler. Be aware that many of the housekeeping staff speak only Spanish, so brush up on your basics in case you need to ask for something, or google "I need more toilet paper", etc in Spanish before you ask. Don't get frustrated that they speak only one language if you speak only English. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great Location, Great Value

We stayed 6 nights during spring break in March. There were two adults and two "tweens" in the room. The room had double queen beds and a pull out sofa. This worked out great for our stay as the kids had their own beds. We chose this hotel for several reasons. First was location. We had tickets to both Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Seaworld, plus we knew that we wanted to visit the sights and activities at the Riverwalk. This hotel was near a major freeway, but not directly on the feeder road, so road noise was a non-issue. Six Flags was a 7 minute drive and both SeaWorld and the Riverwalk were around 15 minutes away. All three commutes were easy drives. There is a Wal-Mart, HEB and several restaurants and other entertainment such as movies and a trampoline park nearby. The second reason we chose Comfort Suites was the included breakfast and free parking. When you are staying for a week out of town, every little bit of savings adds up. This breakfast had a decent variety that included make-it-yourself waffles, eggs, sausage, pastries, oatmeal, cereal and more. Another reason we chose this hotel was for the indoor pool. This was great for the days that we needed a little down time not to mention the kids hit the pool almost every evening. Lastly, was the price. We booked this hotel just a few days before arriving and still got a great rate. With saying that, there are a few minor things that could help make staying there more pleasant. From the areas that I saw, it looks like it is time for a refresh. The hotel showed signs of wear and tear, but nothing that would keep me from staying again. Another area that could be an easy fix, would be the breakfast area. Just moving some of the food stations to different areas of the counters would help with crowding. As mentioned in other reviews, the pool area has a strong chlorine odor, but this is to be expected for this type of setup. Overall we were pleased with Comfort Suites and we would most definitely stay here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Decent budget hotel fairly priced

I got a pretty good deal on the room – 53 bucks a night. It’s quite spacious. It has a sleeper sofa, ample workspace, a very comfortable bed, refrigerator, microwave, and a good CNN connection. An ample supply of USA today newspapers at the front desk...always welcome in my world. The breakfast area looked pretty well-kept and looks like it’s probably a little better than average for a budget hotel. All in all I’d say this is a pretty good value. Id give 3 1/2 stars if I had an option. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
