Lovely hotel, great view, but loud party ruined sleep

Feb 22nd, 2021

I stayed here with my family for a two night staycation. The room was small, but with an amazing view. Staff was courteous and helpful. Overall we had a very good experience, with the notable exception that there was an extremely loud party in the rooms above us that stretched well past 2 am. I went up there to check it out to make sure that it wasn't just a moderate party and that it was just thin walls that were to blame. It seems that someone had booked several adjacent rooms for afterhours partying, and that many people were squeezed into the tiny rooms, with drinking games and whatnot. The noise could clearly be heard throughout the hall. I called a couple of times to complain, and the desk was very polite and told me that they would send up security right away. Unfortunately, the noise would die down somewhat, but then start right up again. I barely slept that night. It's too bad because we really like the hotel and location, and we had a nice dinner at the cafe's outdoor dining setup. I would also advice against getting room service for breakfast; as another review mentioned we got a slice and half of toast and a to-go cup of cold coffee with no milk. Better to go down to the cafe or grab a coffee around the corner. As for the partying, it may have been a one-off, or maybe people are booking rooms to get around the early closing hours at bars. I just wish the management was a little more serious in shutting it down. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Cool building and location, lacking in almost everything else.

Feb 22nd, 2021

Charged a $30/day facility fee for access to the gym and common areas of the hotel. Staff refused to remove this from the final folio. Rooms which aren’t classified as a suite are downright uncomfortable to spend time in. While the bed was ok, the desk chair was intolerably uncomfortable to sit in for more than a few minutes. The carpeting was dirty, walls were cracked, and charging outlets for your devices were scarce. The room I selected was a king deluxe. If you wish to enjoy your room for anything aside from sleeping, best to explore other properties. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful view...poor experience

Feb 16th, 2021

My husband and I stayed for a night for a staycation over Valentine's Day weekend. We splurged on a King Corner room so we could enjoy the view. Our room was both by the elevator and had a door to the adjoining room next door. The door was NOT soundproofed in any way, because we could hear everything (and I mean, everything) happening in the room next door as if they guests were right next to us. It basically felt like we had no privacy, which is a shame. The next morning we ordered room service for breakfast, and it took an hour and a half to arrive- we had to call the front desk just to ask for an update. They said it was "on the way up"- and then took another 30 minutes. When it finally came, 30 minutes before check out, our food was cold. My french toast was a single piece and burned, and the "pot of coffee" was a single, luke warm to-go cup. My husband's "pot of tea," on the other hand, came in 3 individual to-go cups. The ultimate staycation

Feb 12th, 2021

My fiancé recently surprised me with a weekend getaway for my birthday and this hotel blew away all my expectations! The hotel helped create a romantic setting by having champagne and my favorite snacks awaiting upon my arrival. The view of the city from our room was spectacular, and the guest service was outstanding. The food was amazing - whether we were eating at the Standard’s restaurant or ordering room service, everything was delicious and service was immaculate. We are definitely going to come back and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Even though we live across the Hudson in NJ, it still felt like we were on vacation. It was so lovely to have a mini staycation, and even in this climate, we felt very safe as all of the covid protocols were followed above and beyond by the hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Had the most fabulous Staycation at the best hotel!

Feb 9th, 2021

Every part of our stay at the Standard East Village was superb, from check in to check out. Danny was super friendly when checking us in and gave us a beautiful room with incredible views of the city. Franck helped us with room service and the food was excellent - highly recommend the Standard burger! Overall, cannot recommend this hotel enough, the rooms are stylish and comfortable, the food is amazing and the staff are incredibly thoughtful and attentive! Can't wait to stay here again.
