Pros and cons

Aug 12th, 2019

PROS: Nice frontdesk staff, simple modern decor, nice view of ocean and pool. Comfy beds and linens. CONS: Expensive. Walls extremely thin... if air conditioner fan is not running, can hear every word neighbors say. Carnival next door quite noisy (it's fun to hear the kids, but the ride mechanical noise gets old after awhile). Sitting on balcony ot is also quite noisy... the AC units over power the ocean waves unfortunately. Couple spots in room less than 100% clean. Bathtub needs refinishing or major deep clean. Great Stay right on the Ocean!

Aug 8th, 2019

We spent a week in NC and decided during our stay to head to the Ocean. We picked Carolina Beach and ended up choosing the Courtyard by Marriott. A good choice on our part! All the rooms were Ocean front with decks! We were on the 6th floor and had a great view of the Ocean. The room was very clean and plenty big enough for 4 of us. The hotel has food accommodations but if you'd rather go out there were plenty of restaurants within walking distance. If you want to leave the car parked this is the place to be! We'll surely go back! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Friendly, positive experience and we'll be back!

Aug 6th, 2019

Our extended family of four generations recently spent a long weekend here, reserving three rooms. We found the entire staff friendly, from the front desk to the Bistro, to the housekeepers and maintenance crew. Everyone wanted to make our stay enjoyable. The manager Tom Ullring saved the day for us when one of the rooms was not ready by the time promised (and this was the one where two young children needed to settle in before dinner). Manager Tom listened, apologized and immediately made things right, going above and beyond to take care of the situation. We appreciate all he did for our group of eight. We will recommend this property to others and look forward to coming back ourselves! Good job Courtyard CB! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful weekend get away

Aug 6th, 2019

With a busy Summer & new jobs we only had a few days to get away. The location & sea breezes helped us unplug quickly. The front desk staff was also tremendous in helping with recommendations, which we badly needed since we hadn’t been to Carolina Beach in years. They helped make a great trip that much better. We spent 2 nights and 3 days here and this is the summary of the pros and cons of this hotel: Corner Room, 2 Queen Suite, on the carnival side, 5th floor The Carnival side is important if you like peaceful quiet nights, ask for the side of the hotel away from the carnival, although I don’t know if it makes a difference or not with the noise level. The roars of the crowds and the noise of the rides overwhelm the ocean tides. The room is mediocre and needs updating. We had a slow sink, stained bathtub, shower lacked water pressure, no room safe, ok here is a big one for me: there is a kitchen sink with cabinetry, entirely empty: no dishes, silverware, no dish soap . I get this isn't a Residence Inn, but if you are going to have a kitchen sink, at least stock it with the necessities. The balcony is a heartstopper if you have kids or afraid of heights. Some PVC pipe is all that is between you and the earth below. There is a huge tripping hazard in front of the sliding door, we tripped a few times, your heart will stop as you fall toward the PVC pipe balcony. I did not let my kids 7 and 12 yo go near it. I went to the Bistro upon finding out there was no kitchenware and asked for silverware and plates. I was prompty thrown some foam plates and plasticware. I explained at the counter that I would like to have real plates and silverware and was told "No, they aren't microwave safe." Ok, I'm a big boy, I won't microwave them. "Sorry, we can't do that." Really, for real? So I had to go find the manager, explain the situation and he followed me over to the Bistro and gave me real plates and silverware. Very, very sad. The hotel staff is friendly and there were plenty of staff available and visible throughout the hotel. There is an indoor pool with jacuzzi and outdoor pool. I noticed there were never any hotel towels at either of them. The beach is right out the back door and there are hoses to wash off sandy feet and footwear and shells. The hoses were operational and a very, very nice touch. We ate at Kate’s for breakfasts both days, I do get tired of the Eggs Your Way at the Bistro, but I did notice a breakfast buffet setup similar to a Residence in a backroom. Unsure of the price. Overall, we had a great time. A few kinks here and there, high price rooms, but stellar view; nothing big that was left unresolved. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
