Not Impressed - Managers Do Not Value Customers

The day I was supposed to leave for my trip, I woke up congested, coughing and sneezing. In light of recent advisories not to travel or be around people when sick due to COVID-19 concerns, I wisely (in my opinion) cancelled my trip. I called the hotel and was told by a very polite young man that the late cancellation fee would be waived and that I would receive a call back to confirm. He also noted that I was a valued Bonvoy member (great customer relations by a staff member!). The snooty front desk supervisor who called me later that day told me that the $181 fee would not be waived. I then spoke to the Assistant General Manager who stated that the fee would not be waived, regardless of health concerns and despite the information provided in my first call. The rigid adherence by hotel management to this policy seems tone deaf given the current situation with COVID-19. I do not recommend staying at this hotel, they provide poor customer service and do not value their relationships with customers. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wonderful property!

It has been over 10 years since I have been at the property. It changed some but all for the better. The staff especially Rebecca at the front desk and Linda in the restaurant. Both of them were beyond awesome! Nice job ladies! The property is a couple blocks from the convention center which was home for 5 days. Lot's of places to eat within walking distance if you do not want to eat at the property. I would highly suggest you eat breakfast here for sure. I did not eat dinner here on this trip. My room was modern and comfortable. I had a beautiful view of the Queen Elizabeth Cruise Ship and port form my window. Beautiful to see every morning. Their gym is very nice. 3 small separate rooms. The first with 3 treadmills, the second with two elliptical machines and one Peloton. the third room has weights and you can do yoga in there as well. They have towels on every machine, a water cooler and a small refrigerator with bottles of water inside. All the machines have television as well. I saw the general manager several times during my stay which is unusual since most properties the general manager is never seen or heard from. Nice job! I look froward to staying at this property again. One of my favorites! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Exceptionally Loud Hotel

The hotel itself was pretty nice although it was disappointing that they didn't have a Starbuck's (or any coffee shop in the facility). The room was OK, not fantastic, there were some places on the walls and trim that weren't painted or patched well. It was a little disappointing too that we didn't get all of our towels replaced after the first night, just 2 new ones instead of the 4 that were originally in the room. The biggest disappointment however was how incredibly loud the traffic in the hallway was, even in the middle of the night. They had left ear plugs in the room for us (I always bring a pair with me). I guess they knew how loud the room was. I could hear people talking loudly every night we were there. Not sure if it was inconsiderate people or horrible acoustics, but this was the loudest hotel I've stayed at in several years. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor hotel, terrible restaurant

Very unimpressed by our stay here and we won’t be returning. Firstly the restaurant - my colleague and I were arriving late following our flight so we called ahead to ask when the restaurant closed. The concierge told us 10pm (plenty of time) and their website also said it closed at 10. We check in at 9:40pm, went to the restaurant and were told it had already closed the kitchen so couldn’t serve us. I asked to speak to manager and explained we’d been told the restaurant closed at 10 (and we would have obviously stopped somewhere on en route to the hotel if there was any suggestion we wouldn’t be served). In a rather patronizing manner she explained: “you know when bars call last orders just before they close, that’s like us, we’ve called last orders”. Firstly, you’re a hotel restaurant, not a bar. Secondly, if you do adopt this bizarre policy, at least tell the concierge and update the website that if you arrive 20 minutes before it closes, you’ll be turned away at the door. We were also one of 3 parties refused entry so it’s clearly a common issue. We are the restaurant the next night which continued to disappoint. Host sat us, no one came over, 20 minutes later I went back to the host to ask if I should order at the bar, she said “if course you order at the bar” (as if it were obvious). Went to order at the bar when a different server came over and asked why I was ordering at the bar when I had a table. He then took me order at the table and our first drinks came 25 minutes after arrival. Eventually ordered my meal, only half of it came, let the manager know this, she told me she’d be right back and would let me know what the issue was. She never returned and the second dish came 20 minutes later. I get things like this happen but at least come as say “sorry, we forgot to ring that in, it’ll be a few minutes”. She just ignored us. The rest of the hotel was old and shabby. Went to turn up the aircon and it said “use thermostat on the wall”. Couldn’t find the thermostat so called the front desk who sent up a mechanic. He said they’d “run out of thermostats” so had to dismantle the unit and set it manually for me. Aircon was loud (even on low), bed was creaky etc. I wouldn’t have minded too much had the price not been what it was but for $270 a night (with parking) you expect far better. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice choice

I stayed here recently for a conference being held at the Hyatt. I booked late so this was the overflow hotel. Although not very close to the Hyatt (or the convention center), it was not too far and if you opt to use the bike share or scooters it’s really easy. The room was stylish and the bed was pretty comfortable and everything worked which are the most important things to me. There is a small pool which I did not use but the gym, although also small, was decently equipped and even had peloton bikes. Service was very friendly and the staff all seemed femininely pleasant. There is a parking structure onsite and they allowed me to leave my car after checkout that day to finish the last day of the conference at no additional charge. You are a bit away from the main areas on Pike and the waterfront but nothing too bad. Definitely worth considering. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
