Fantastic room and staff

Nov 25th, 2019

Our king suite was perfect for two adults and a teenage daughter. Spacious, private, great king bedroom. Staff was friendly and helpful. In an underwhelming city, this hotel was overwhelmingly nice! Special thanks to John at the front desk - ask him anything and he will point you in the right direction! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location

We chose this hotel because we wanted to be close to PNC Park. It was only about a 20 minute walk. The hotel is also right in the heart of the theater district. Lots to do nearby & plenty of choices for meals. We parked in a nearby garage, which saved us quite a bit on parking. The only choices are valet or the nearby garage. The garage was only about a 10 minute walk, but it got filled up quickly, so we parked on the upper floors each day. There is a dining area that is pretty typical of Courtyard hotels. A counter where you can purchase coffee, sandwiches, etc... The room was well equipped & comfortable. We had a view of the downtown high-rise buildings. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Love the hotel

Oct 4th, 2019

You won’t be disappointed. Our. Room was gorgeous, totally updated decor and super clean. It was exactly as the online pictures show. We did a city view and had a nice view towards the bar across the street and their rooftop deck. If you can request rooms, we loved the corner king room 817. Quiet room and lots of space. Everyone on the staff was welcoming and knowledgeable of the area. They gave great dining suggestions and activity suggestions. We will definitely be bac! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A great location and friendly staffs

The location of Courtyard Pittsburgh Downtown is awesome. Everything is in the walking distance. There are many restaurants near the hotel. It only takes less than 10 mins of waking to the PNC Stadium. The hotel staffs (front desk, restaurant, valet) are very friendly and helpful. The valet fee is very reasonable. My family recommends this hotel! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Our family stayed at the Courtyard for three nights over Labor Day weekend. As a Marriott Gold member, I was privy to a few nice perks such as late check out and complimentary upgraded internet. When we checked in, were told that all three rooms were "upgraded" - though it was unclear what the upgrade was. The staff overall was pleasant, but our stay was disappointing. A couple of things to keep in mind if you plan on staying in this hotel - rooms tend to be noisy, staff action is lackluster, and they were very understaffed on this busy holiday weekend. 1. The hotel is located on a busy one lane street in the cultural district. While this is excellent for walking around the city, it is terrible if you're driving in or want access to your car through the valet - the valet staging area was full most times, which meant you had to either stop traffic or drive around the block a few times. Not a deal breaker and expected for a downtown location, but definitely something to know in advance, especially for check in. Even though I had read about the frustrating valet/drive up situation in other reviews, it was truly frustrating and inconvenient when experienced. If you stay here, park in a downtown lot and travel light. 2. The second downside of the location on a busy street is the noise. Our "upgraded" rooms were on the Penn Ave side, and overlooked the many bars and restaurants on that street. The bars on the weekends are packed and incredibly noisy until very late at night. We had trouble sleeping every night. 3. The hotel has little control over the noise of the bar-goers. However, on our last night, the guests in the room across the hall were playing loud music and seemed to be having a party. After calling the front desk at midnight, the guests were warned once - but the loud music persisted with people in and out constantly. After calling the front desk for second time at 1am, asking what the hotel's policy was to address noisy guests (which the front desk staff did not know) and threatening to call the police, a hotel employee came up to have the music shut down. Despite the second warning, the guests continued to be incredibly loud and noisy late into the night. I expect harsher action for noise complaints and, yes, for the hotel to take responsibility for calling the police when necessary. 4. The hotel was understaffed through the weekend. Housekeeping did not come up until after 4pm, and only after calling several times, and the service was quite poor with linens left lying on the floor. Guest services didn't answer, and when they did answer, you were put on an endless hold. On both issues, we were told that they were extremely backed up. For a busy downtown hotel, it was disappointing that they were so understaffed and unable to maintain the basic services. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
