I will not be back

Oct 20th, 2019

I was unimpressed from start to finish with this property. The bed was comfortable; that’s about it. This hotel is profiled as the “partner” with special benefits for patrons of the Capital Sports Center on the CSC website. I called the specific hotel reservations person indicated (twice) for this deal - no answer and no call back. I called the front desk a third time and was told they knew nothing about the deal, did not know exactly where CSC even was and that it was too late for any such arrangement anyway as all such bookings must be made 21 days in advance. I mentioned that i had left messages twice with no reply and she didn’t care. I showed up to check in around 7pm and nobody was at the check in desk. After approximately 5 full minutes (a long time when you are wanting to check in after a 2 hour drive) someone finally emerged from behind a closed door. No apology or explanation for her absence was given. I’m a Marriott bonvoy gold member and credit card holder, and I was questioned at the desk as to why my (married) last name on my license did not match my (maiden) last name on my credit card. Then I was told that I must show my AAA card (requiring a trip back out to the car to retrieve it) even though I had already entered the complete number when making my online reservation. So perhaps these are “standard procedure” issues, but I have never been hassled at other properties. The lobby “cafe” was a bit underwhelming for a Saturday night dinner experience so I asked for advice/directions to any “nice” restaurants in the area.... this was pretty much met with a disinterested shrug of the shoulders and the comment that there were “some chain restaurants” down the street. Gee, thanks - I pulled out my phone and found ‘’Seasons 52” nearby on my own - it was quite good. There is nothing however in walking distance or the immediate vicinity of this hotel - you’re in an uninspiring, isolated and industrial type area. At approximately 4am a series of loud trains with blaring horns started cruising by - which apparently would explain the ear plugs and noise reduction machine placed on the bedside table. It was so loud that it was impossible to get back to sleep. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Quite nice

This is a very clean, up to date Courtyard with comfortable beds, thick towels, a decent TV, good spaciousness, and nice extras like a mini fridge, good coffee, and nice quality mini toiletries. One star off for the broken bathroom sink plunger. Very friendly nice staff. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A memorable Family Reunion, thanks to the phenomenal team at Courtyard Cal Expo!

Sep 1st, 2019

My event hosting experience was seamless. In partnership with the Catering Director, Meryshel (it truly felt like a partnership), she guided me through my options and was very knowledgeable. Our hotel room accommodations were great. As the event planner, I stayed in a suite with all of the materials for the event. The front desk staff was responsive and offered to assist me in transporting items, at every turn. I was looking for a destination point, central to a number of activities. The newness of the property and the staff were the deciding factor. It was a busy time with the state fair going on. However, I never once felt like I wasn't receiving the best service Meryshel and the staff had to offer. While I can't recall all of the banquet staff's names, each did a great job and ensured that I felt valued as a customer and that the success of the event was 'our collective' goal. I hosted a Friday night reception, a full banquet buffet and a Sunday full breakfast. Food was good and while I was worried about the quantities, we were just fine. Meryshel was able to expertly match my color scheme and each event's décor exceeded expectations. Only opportunity, I would suggest extending the room service hours and perhaps offer a small offering for breakfast. The lines are Starbucks were long but thankfully, the wait wasn't too long. My overall experience was awesome and I would highly recommend. As a frequent traveler for business and as the host and event planner, for this year's family reunion, I had high expectations and the team at the hotel met and exceeded. There were at least three other MAJOR events/activities going on near and around the property at the same time and the hotel common areas didn't feel congested nor did service go lacking. Two thumbs UP Courtyard Cal Expo! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
