No problems, neat old building

Oct 26th, 2020

Convenient location downtown- short walk to Central Ave or the waterfront. The valet was super-fast, but note that the hotel only has valet parking and no designated self-parking. Limited services due to Covid precautions, but no problems with my room or stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Never again

Mar 9th, 2020

The worst experience Iv ever had with a manager (James) instead of approaching us in a educated manner, he sent his Valet to harass us for parking in a disable parking. We have a disable child and a permit, we came in 2 cars and had them block my car without even trying to speak to us totally unprovoked. Imagine traveling here with a disable child who’s having surgery at 5am to this kind of welcome horrific. I told him you can’t keep my keys cause I travel with my weapon and medical equipment. He said we need to move your car cause we use that space for employees parking, I was like a disable parking on hold for employees? I never heard of such a thing. I explained we need to leave hotel by 4am to go to the hospital he didn’t care and had a grin from ear to ear. WOW I tried not to lose. It cause of my sick child, I said are you sure this ok to move a disable from a disable parking, to which he said Iv been through this before and nothing’s going to happen. Then he laughed when he said and that’s not even our parking lot’’WTH our bags where left on a luggage cart and valet walked away and James the G.Manager stayed seated on the bench the whole time. What can we do surgery is at 5am we are at this disgraceful mans mercy. I contacted Marriott they open a case and left my attorney a message and emailed photos of the parking spot. I also sent a message to the Agency for persons with disabilities Fl. There was no need for any of this sad there’s people like James working in hospitality. Oh our to be move almost 2 blocks and pay too! $16 per car TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not so great but not awful either

This is a strange hotel with quirky aspects. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. The hotel is an older building from @1925 that has been renovated and brought up to date. But the elevators can be very slow at times. Courtyard properties are not deluxe but like more upscale hotels, which Courtyard is not, breakfast is not included. Add at least $10 per person for a simple coffee and pastry in the morning and the line can be long and slow. Add a lot more $ for a hot breakfast. Sound proofing from overhead is somewhat unacceptable. You can hear bumping and thumping. Depends on your tolerance level. The oddest feature of this hotel is their policy to bill you and charge your credit card not when you check out, but when you reach a rather low threshold of charges. Imagine my surprise after three of a four night stay to receive an email with a bill. I thought there had been a mistake and they were checking me out of the hotel. They claim this is fo help the guest not have pending charges on their credit card. I think it’s more likely they don’t trust the credit worthiness of their guests. They also claim this is standard hotel practice. Really? I have never experienced this in years of hotel stays. I received yet another bill for the remaining night on check out. This whole thing is weird. This hotel is in a good location, but so are others. I am in no hurry to return. YMMV TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Travel with accessible needs traveler

Jan 20th, 2020

In earlier review indicated Vinoy was not a wheel chair friendly hotel. In December moved to Courtyard from Vinoy. The location is easily accessible to eating, museum and downtown St Petersburg. Staff is always helpful. However during our December stay the new elevator had several breakdowns. Back in January and first four days the “new” was out of order again. It gets frustrating not having access to an elevator closer to your room. There is only one exit for wheel chair guests. Unless you have a third person opening the door during ingress or egress it c asN be problematic. Hotel should address entry options for wheel chairs. Unsure when back in February to give this courtyard another chance or just go to the Hyatt. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Historic Spot Centrally Located

Jan 16th, 2020

We had a wonderful stay here. Lots of charm when you walk in - built in the 20's and it has been beautifully restored. Free shuttle to anywhere you'd like to go in a 2 mile radius, which covers a lot of downtown St. Petersburg. The driver Zach was very friendly and helpful. Nice little bistro to grab a bite located in the lobby. Our room was well appointed, the bed was comfortable and made with nice crisp, clean linens and the bathroom was in good repair and all working fine. Quiet room which is why we love these old hotels - they were well built with good solid walls. All the staff were great - very hospitable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
