Good quiet location

Jul 23rd, 2019

We like the Courtyard by Marriott brand, so this was a easy choice for us. the hotel is in good shape, loads of free parking and in a nice quiet area. Has simple amenities but enough for an over night stay. The breakfast is free and extremely average - probably why it's free! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Stay!

Jul 7th, 2019

The Courtyard Chapel Hill was a great place to stay. We were there for a week on a business trip and the staff was very courteous and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious. The landscaping around the property was beautiful and well-maintained. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Too Many Hiccups in One Short-Term Stay

Jun 29th, 2019

As a loyal platinum elite member of the Marriott Bonvoy program, I do value the experiences that I have received over the past five years with Marriott. There are sometimes pros and cons that need to be highlighted to improve the quality of service that guests receive to improve in customer service and service recovery. On a most recent short-term stay, prior to arriving to my room, I was upgraded through the Marriott Bonvoy App to an Executive Suite. Upon check-in, I was told that there was no benefit regarding 500 points or $10 voucher for breakfast (something that platinum members usually get in Courtyard Marriott) and just given a room key. According to the front desk agent, I needed to book a breakfast package to get breakfast in the morning through the Bistro. To my surprise, I was put in a different room type. As I went downstairs, I consulted again with the agent and no explanation was given about this incident, other than they could move me next day to that promised room type. After checking with the night general manager, she understood my situation and was going to send an email regarding my situation to the General Manager and never heard back from them. Finally, it was until I called Marriott Elite Services and set a case number, where I heard from their Front Office Manager. Ruth handled everything with care and was responsive to my situation. I do give her credit for trying to ammend the situation at the end in some way. I am not sure if I would consider staying again at the Courtyard Marriott in Chapel Hill, but do hope that additional steps are taken so future guests don't have to deal with these situations and proper training is provided to front desk agents about policies and procedures to follow with regards to Marriott. Lovely hotel, a few tweaks

Jun 17th, 2019

My husband and I stayed at this Courtyard for 3 nights this past weekend. We paid just a little more for a lovely upgraded king room, which was roomy and nicely appointed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed the food and speedy service at the very reasonable cafe for breakfast each day. We had 3 items that could have made our stay even better: 1. Pay more attention to details of housekeeping. The room was clean, but on check in there was a clump of long hair that was left on the bathroom floor. Definitely not ours, as we have short hair. The second day, no coffee or fresh cups were left for us. 2. The coffee in the room was horrible, horrible, horrible. So having none the second morning wasn’t horrible. But many hotels we have stayed in provide decent coffee to brew in the room, and leave enough for more than one cup of regular and one cup of decaf. 3. No ventilation in the bathroom. While the infrastructure was in the bathroom, there was no venting. After a shower the mirror stayed fogged up and the room stayed hot and muggy. And that’s encouragement for mold. We certainly would stay here again. Just wanted to point these three deficits out. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great hotel, but mixed review

Jun 10th, 2019

This is a terrific hotel, with clean, well appointed, quiet and traveler-friendly rooms. It is relatively typical of all Courtyard by Marriott properties. Unfortunately, there were aspects of this visit which were highly disappointing. 1) despite checking in well after 3 PM, many rooms were not available for people in the group. During our visit, several people reported their rooms had not been cleaned by 4 or 5 PM. This strongly suggests that the management has inadequately staffed the housekeeping crew. 2) many people would have liked to enjoy the bar while waiting for their room or even into the evening. Unfortunately, this was not available to them because the bar did not open in the afternoon and closed by 10 PM. 3) despite the fact that I am a frequent guest at Marriott hotels, I find the food options at courtyards limited. 4) while the bed was comfortable in the room was quiet, all of the pillows in the room provided absolutely no support. If one put a miniature candy bar on them, they would have weighed sufficiently to go to the ground underneath. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
