Dated, but Well Maintained

Mar 6th, 2020

This older architecture is reminiscent of 1980s townhomes. The property has been updated and the desired amenities are available. Updated TV and furniture. Friendly staff. Sink and closet in separate room next to tub and toilet - old school, and likely preferred by some. It is well maintained and likely the best it can be given the type of architecture. Convenient to US 29, shopping and restaurants. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good property

Jan 14th, 2020

It's a good property located with way access to 29. It's nicely appointed with all the amenities you would expect from the marque. The parking lot does not extend to the front of the building so if mobility challenged its something to consider; it does have a covered motor entry. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A standard, older Courtyard that’s been updated

Dec 31st, 2019

If you’re a Courtyard regular, you’ll recognize this property. It’s one of the ones that was built decades ago that’s been updated. Rooms are what you’d expect. The fixtures are the same, but the flooring, paint, furniture, and wallpaper has been updated to the grey color scheme. Two quirks to know about this property: it’s sort of behind the Big Lots (used to be Toys R Us) and the elevator is at the back of the building. If you need the elevator, drive up to the front door, don’t bring luggage inside to check in, and then park in the back. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Comfy beds

Dec 28th, 2019

Friendly staff, big, clean rooms and extremely comfortable beds. We’d stay here around for sure. The hotel is slightly hard to find but the GPS took us straight there. It’s just tucked behind buildings and you wouldn’t see if from the road. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I'll preface this review by saying that the service and staff at this hotel are excellent. My check-in experience was one of the fastest I've ever experienced and I did not experience any service issues during my stay. My issue with this hotel is the condition of the rooms. The lobby has been renovated to the new Courtyard standard, with a dedicated workspace and computer for printing boarding passes as well as a new lobby bar with bistro menu. It also appears as if they red-carpet the rooms, although that is where their renovation stopped. The fact that they are still putting carpet in hotel rooms in 2019, and especially in the sink/vanity area seems crazy to me, but maybe I'm just a germaphobe? The bathroom appears to be original and the dated fixtures feel like they are from the early 1990's. Lighting has also not been updated to LED, and still has the slow flicker on that makes me feel like I'm in a budget motel, not a modern mid-tier aimed at business travelers. One of the lamp shades in my room was also damaged, the desk top was worn to the point where some of the finish is missing, the blackout curtain bad a few small holes in it, and the wallpaper in the vanity area showed several stains. In terms of cleanliness, I would rate my room average or slightly below. The linens and the tile in the bathroom appeared clean, but the coffee maker had hard water stains and the new shampoo and body wash (the hotel uses Paul Mitchell Tea Tree products in bulk pumps mounted to the shower wall) had not been wiped down and had dried body wash caked on the top plate. Overall, the room was certainly usable and reasonably clean, but I give the hotel a 2/5 because the rooms do not meet the standard that I expect from a Courtyard / Marriott family hotel.
