Not a very clean place

Jul 7th, 2019

Stopped for the night on our way to South Carolina. Arrived at 6pm check I went smooth except when I tried to redeem a marriot gift card. The person did not have the proper training and did not know how to enter the cards into the system. Then marriot customer service was horrible. Got that worked out. Our room was on the third floor the hallway has a odor not horrible but not good. The room looks clean. Bed is comfy. Something not so pleasant in the air conditioning unit and some kind of dirt , mildew or mold in the shower. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very nice Hotel

Courtyard Marriott has a wonderful staff and is very neat and clean. The staff is very attentive to everyone's needs and you are introduced to the entire front desk. It is very convenient to many restaurants and shopping. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Amazing place

Clean and comfy. It would have been excellent if the receptionist would have been a bit more polite and welcoming. But everybody has their days I guess. Other than that I enjoyed the stay and would recommend it to others. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Harrisonburg Visit

Jun 8th, 2019

Stayed at this hotel for work. It was close to many many restaurants. It sits on top of a hill with a gorgeous view of the city. Typical Marriott hotel. There is no free breakfast, instead they have an onsite restaurant called the Bistro. They serve breakfast and dinner. Personally the food is not flavorful. I wish Marriott would look into other menu items or revamping the menu. Staff were nice. Room was clean. Shower wasn’t the best pressure but it was hot. Towels were plentiful and clean. Netflix and YouTube can be watched on the tv if you have an account which is a nice bonus because only the basic channels are offered in room. Parking lot needs more lighting at night. Not terrible, not exceptional

Apr 22nd, 2019

I rated this hotel as average for a number of reasons. CHECK IN : Staff was decent. Not particularly welcoming or friendly, but helpful enough. THE ROOM: I stayed on the 1st floor. It was me and my three young kids. When we first got into the room, it was a little musty smelling. I always do the "Clorox wipe test" on all hotel surfaces to see if they are clean or not (I stay in a lot of hotels for work and I have seen some things!). Unfortunately, this hotel did not pass the test. All of the counters in the bathroom, the bathtub, the desk and the two small tables in the living space were dirty, ranging from slightly to disgusting. The worst was the bathroom sink and the tub, both of which brought up black "crumbs" (not sure how else to describe it). There were also black hairs everywhere, presumably from housekeeping staff but not sure. The tub wouldn't drain at all; within 3 minutes of taking a shower with my youngest, we were ankle deep in dirty water. This is a major pet peeve of mine in hotels. My other two kids couldn't even take showers because of the slow drain. THE BED: I always strip down the bedsprings to check for bugs or stains. The padded mattress cover had a few light stains. The pillows were very lumpy and the bed wasn't very comfortable. THE COUCH: In the living room area, we had a pullout sofa. I wouldn't even let my kids sit on it because there were so many stains underneath the pillows. I was not pleased with this hotel much at all and we ended up leaving that night because my kids were uncomfortable on the bed and it just felt dirty. The decor of the outside lobby area is really nice and even the decor/colors in the room itself was was just everything else. When I checked out around 8PM, the front desk clerk didn't ask me any questions or exhibit any kind of real customer service. I didn't expect much after my previous interaction with the other clerk, but I was surprised she didn't ask me why I was leaving early. I'd save your money and go somewhere else in the Harrisonburg area (my normal hotel was booked up which is why I ended up here). TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
