Another great stay at the King K

Feb 28th, 2020

Our third trip to the King K and celebrated our 30th anniversary there. They spoiled us! Thank you to all of the great staff there - you are awesome. Shout out to Darcy, Karen and Tichelle. And Matt, you and your team are doing a great job - seeing a lot of positive improvements. Yes, they are in the middle of a re-furb but seeing the renderings in the lobby, it is going to be beautiful when finished. I do agree with others that the resort fee and then parking fee really adds on a lot to your cost. The resort fee amenities were not used by us so to have this fee levied on a daily basis is a negative in my book. But overall a great place that we love to visit and we will be back! Huge dissappointment!

Feb 25th, 2020

I am a Titanium Elite Bonvoy member. Given the volume of business I place with Marriott, I used points for my stay. I checked in yesterday and was placed in the unrenovated East Tower. Upon entry into our room, I was dismayed and appalled by the conditions. Besides the fact that the room was beyond dated, the musty smell was inescapable. I called the front desk to request to move to the renovated West tower and was told that no rooms were available. I wasn't even given the option to upgrade to a nicer room. They sent someone from housekeeping regarding the smell of the room. To rectify the smell, the housekeeper brought in a lemon scented spray bottle, seriously?! We found the staff at the front desk to be extremely friendly and the concierge (Siri) was amazing! That and the location of the hotel were the only redeaming qualities. In looking at other reviews, it's evident that this hotel, while having the Marriott flag, it is clearly managed by an independent company. Otherwise, Titanium elite members would not be placed in inferior rooms on the level of a 1 star hotel chain. In addition, I checked in via the Bonvoy app and after moving into our room, I received a review request in which I noted my displeasure with our room. I've heard crickets chirping since, no reponse.... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Needs renovation - Great front office employees - Housekeeping needs training

Feb 24th, 2020

The front desk employees were very welcoming and always eager to help and answer any questions. Unfortunately the housekeeping department’s was the opposite . When we check into our bedroom one of the bed sheets had a blood stain on it. We called the front desk and after telling them our situation they said they will send someone to replace the stain sheet. After waiting 40 minutes a lady housekeeper came with some new sheets and placed them on top of the bed and started to leave the room . I stopped her and asked her to replace the sheets. It was obvious that she wanted me to change my own bloody sheets ? How rude and inconsiderate ! I do not recall the name of this lady but I saw her every night vacuuming the public spaces by the lobby and the game room. She was never smiling and did not seems to like her job! The carpet by the lobby smell bad and all wrinkled. It needs to be changed . Our room beds, carpet and furnitures are all worn out . A renovation is needed. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Definitely deserved its 3 star rating

Feb 24th, 2020

Marriott Courtyard King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel. February 17-21, 2020. Room 321 East Bathroom: Average, definitely signs of wear, could use some maintenance. Shower head extremely low. It would be difficult for a tall person to shower. The towels were small and not the usual large towels that most hotels use these days. Bed: A little saggy, seemed old and not the well known Marriott beds that I see in other Marriotts. Room: Large, plenty of space and clean. The TV was very large and nice to watch. The carpet was new and in good condition. The room definitely looked dated in terms of colors and decor. Lanai: Small with two chairs and a small table. No chaise lounge. The room was an oceanview room. Worst view I’ve ever had in a hotel. 95% of the view was the rooftop of the building beside us. There was a peep hole vision of the ocean in the distance. Not a pleasant place to sit. Service: The maids were friendly and pleasant as were the people at the front desk. I could have used more information on the amenities that were available to me like information on wifi, cabana rental etc. Location: Good location in that it is close to the beach and very walkable to the town with lots of shopping and places to eat. Lots of families there and a good place for small children. The place could definitely use some flowers and a little landscaping. Not a hibiscus in sight. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
