Thumbs up

Excellent experience from arrival to departure. Weather was perfect and several restaurants to choose from that are within walking distance. Imini, Justin, and Jeff were extremely personable and a pleasure to interact with. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Staff went our of their way

Jul 4th, 2019

I do not typically write reviews, but . . . I was there for a wedding of my son and his fiance prior to his deployment. This was the 4th of July week. Everything was very nice, comfortable room, bed etc. My last night, the 4th of July, I was going to walk to the fireworks display at Waterside, a short walk from the hotel. As I was getting ready to walk out, the valet mentioned that it was raining. He took his time out to look up the radar on his phone because of the unpredicted evening shower. Looked like it would still be good for the fireworks. Iana, the front desk attendant, called me by name, (kind of like you were at a 5 star hotel) and loaned me an umbrella in case the showers continued. What? A front desk attendant remembering my last name from the day before? Excellent treatment and professionalism. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice hotel with good service

May 27th, 2019

My room was really nice, a corner room with views on two sides. It had a couch. I enjoyed using the hotel's fitness room, which had all new-looking equipment. Service was very friendly. I had some food delivered that I wanted disposed of and the hotel staff helped me with that. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

OK Hotel for a Courtyard in an Urban Location

May 22nd, 2019

The good news - this Courtyard was better than we expected. We planned a very last-minute trip and decided to divert to Norfolk in order to see the Chrysler Museum. After a lifetime of staying in Marriotts, we always joke that there is usually a room available at Courtyards because they are (in our opinions) the least popular places to stay. Sure enough we were able to get one in Norfolk when most places were full. This urban hotel was renovated - at least inside of the rooms. Ours was very neat and clean. The bathroom was far nicer than expected - new-looking, clean grout, nice decor, and fairly big. There was very little water pressure in the sink however. We were there for one night - so we did not complaint. There was an pretty ugly view from our window but the hotel turned out to be quite convenient from the Chrysler Museum and a perfect place from which to hit the highway in the morning. The bad news, as usual, was the breakfast. We really could not take the time in the am to go out and find food. We tried once more to eat at a Courtyard. My husband ordered fruit - it came in a plastic container with wilted greens of some kind on the top. I ordered an eggwhite frittata - because they had removed the oatmeal from the menu - usually the safest thing to order. After waiting for 15 minutes - I got a pile of egg whites which were only cooked around the edges. I ate the tomatoes from the top and left. We planned for an early stop at a Cracker Barrel for brunch. We would recommend this hotel if you are needing a convenient downtown stop in Norfolk but plan to go out for breakfast! I Chose the Right Hotel

May 14th, 2019

It's been MANY years since I stayed at a hotel. I needed to find one near the Ghent area where our son lives. I was going to visit the Fri through Mon Mother's Day weekend. After looking at photos on the hotel's website, I booked a studio. The location was perfect, near all the great restaurants and attractions. My room was spacious, super clean, very comfortable bed. It was a plus to have a hair dryer and iron w/ironing board in the room. The kitchen was fully equipped. The front desk staff and housekeeping staff were QUICK to please! I asked if they had a portable fan and within ten minutes a like brand new one was delivered to my room. I enjoyed the excellent complimentary breakfast buffet (so such to choose from!) and I used the nice gym. I didn't use the indoor pool, but saw quite a few people enjoying it. I will definitely stay there again. It was a very good experience! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
