Good in all ways but odd in one

Mar 12th, 2020

I like the hotel, and the staff is great. No issues checking in, no issues having a light breakfast, no issues taking a late glass of wine up to the room. But I'd have expected the wine glass to disappear with the room servicing. I'd have expected the water glasses that I used to be replaced with clean ones. I thought the hand lotion I used would be replaced. It's not that any of these are BAD, it was just ODD! Courtyard is normally great. I'd still come back, but as I said it was so ... un-Courtyard-like. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Customer Service outstanding

Feb 28th, 2020

Arriving a little early, we expected delays checking in. Not so. Valet parking was required but the valets were very happy to explain rules and cost (politely). After check in which took less than a minute we were invited to take part in a promotion game (won free valet services for stay). Our accommodations were outstanding. Clean and comfortable bathroom and bedroom. Personnel was quick to give us directions and suggestion for our evening meal. Pleasant and all together willing to please. Better than some of the high end establishments I had been using. If all Courtyards are like this I will be using them in the future. 10 out of 10 score. Loved it!!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Well Managed, Surprisingly Enjoyable

Oct 22nd, 2019

As one who spends ~100 nights every year in hotel rooms, it's extremely seldom that I would write a review. They are mostly cookie cutter and the newest one is usually the last objectionable. I typically only write something here if they do something absolutely awful. I had to spend six days in Norfolk and was booked into this one by the company. It wasn't until Day 3 that I started to notice how well the hotel is managed and how the amenities worked for a business traveler. Every nook and cranny of this hotel is clean, speaking to good management. The Fitness Room is spacious and, most important, set at 68F. (It seems like management knows how to work out!) There is a laundry and one washer/dryer load is $3. The fifth floor is an extremely nice veranda that overlooks the city and is almost never used. Nevertheless, it's spotless. If I ever come back to Norfolk, this will be my priority hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not worth it...

Oct 6th, 2019

Reserved a King room with Sofa bed. "Sofa" bed is not what this was. It was a fold out twin, flimsy mattress shoved into a room with a king bed making it too crowded to even move around. Not to mention no sheet or pillow for it. Called front desk with no answer. Had to go down to ask for the sheets. Did bring them up 20 mins later but with no pillow and no real blanket. Rooms are very dated, while bathroom had pealing ceiling and wallpaper, it was clean. Valet parking is 19/night claiming there is just a small parking deck the hotel is able to use...there is actually a public parking deck directly across the street. Wish we'd known before checking in. When we checked out, we had to wait over 20 mins for our car. Only one guy working valet on a busy Sunday morning and no system for who is to be helped next. So, people were left having to speak up against others coming in as to who was next. Many unhappy people were simply stuck waiting to get their cars when they were ready to leave. Usually stay in the Marriot Springhill Suites location over at Old Dominion but was full for this evening. Just know for the cost, the Springhill suites is a much nicer experience! Weekend getaway

Location is great to explore Downtown Norfolk. We were able to walk anywhere we wanted to do. Check in was great. Valet parking - $19 and night. You're going to pay anywhere you stay downtown. Requested room on high floor and was please with our room. Very clean and comfortable. TV allows for internet streaming and I was able to log into my netflix account. Will return to the Courtyard Marriott again next time we're in Norfolk. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
