Best place to stay in Reading PA

Jan 1st, 2021

I had the best experience in the area at this hotel. The location is perfect for what I needed. It was very safe and I felt right at home.. Very kind staff especially the Spanish lady who was there on the Sundays. Everyone was very welcoming, I would stay there for an extended time . Very clean hotel, easy check-in and check-out. I would recommend this place above all others in the area and the price can't be beat. I also like the vacancy between check-ins due to covid. The beds were comfortable. There was no nuisance. They accommodated my special requests with no problem. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Won't be back anytime soon

Nov 21st, 2020

When I walk up to the desk and was greeted by the reservation clerk who didn't look at all happy about her job I knew this would be a downhill stay. One of the positive things was the mattress was comfortable and the room was clean except for the mold in the bathroom. When leaving in the morning the morning desk clerk was completely different from my check in one. She was very pleasant. The overall feeling was this place needs some updating as the room and the hallway carpeting seem dated. Overall it wasn't worth the price for my one night stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I had an unpleasant experience here. The customers service was very unprofessional and horrible . I didn't get any kind of respect in there and I'm not planning to go back. (I'm Marriott Titanium Member unfortunately) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good hotel for a business trip. Recently renovated and in good shape. Friendly staff. Food not great but standard fare Courtyard food. Hotel provided conference room for a meeting on short notice which was a big plus TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

It's a Courtyard.

Jan 22nd, 2020

This Courtyard has all the exceptionally designed features of the chain with the flaws of the brand as well, plus a few wrinkles. Rooms are comfortably sized, with the “extended” kings offering a bit more not-very-useful space. The lobby is long, comfortable, and attractive, blending in to a good sized breakfast area. There’s an indoor pool, exercise equipment and a gas fireplace in the lobby. The chain’s most serious shortcoming is the “bistro breakfast” that replaced buffets in most Courtyards some years ago. Many of the items on the very limited menu are pre-made, then microwaved and taste it. Doubt it?- try to substitute a different bread on a breakfast sandwich. It’s not a fatal flaw, since the city’s best breakfast is just a few blocks away at the Wyomissing Bakery, but you can’t get to it in your slippers. The best part of breakfast is the staff, who are as friendly as they are competent. In fact, the hotel’s staff is universally friendly. The front desk ranges from quite professional to totally incompetent. Guests checking in before and after us had more trouble than we did and we had a near 30 minute nightmare of answering the same questions more than a dozen times as she spun between phone, housekeeping and trying to remember what room she put us in. We wanted to talk to the manager when we checked out, but when we asked for “the manager on duty” the same clerk sent us first to the bathroom and then informed us there was no manager on duty on Sundays. We may be back. The location is a short walk from the Sly Fox Taphouse – be sure to ask about the tunnel under the road that takes you a pathway to their back entrance. Your Courtyard keycard gets you a 10% discount. Other Penn Street West Reading/Wyomissing attractions are nearby, and the hotel’s prices can reach bargain levels for the comfortable rooms. ---Bob & Ellie Tupper, authors, “Drinking In the Culture, Tuppers’ Guide to Exploring Great Beers in Europe.
