Fantastic Service for Bereavement

I cannot say enough about how warm and inviting this hotel is. We had the unfortunate event of a passing in our family in the Wilmington area. I reached out to setup a room block for our out of town guests. The hotel was extremely responsive, sympathetic and welcoming. Everything was setup right away and our guests were at the hotel within hours. They were greeted warmly, with personal hand written notes in the rooms and small welcome bags. My family was raving about the hotel and how welcome they felt. Although we were in a time of grieving, the Courtyard Brandywine gave use one less thing to worry or think about. I could not be more appreciative of the staff and management for their support and assistance. Many thanks to them TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice hotel uncomfortable bed

Nice hotel but very hard uncomfortable bed. A hotels main purpose is sleep. Yet hotels seem to be adopting the practice of purchasing super firm hard uncomfortable beds. I could sleep on the floor and be just as comfortable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Took Great Care of My Family at a Time of Mourning

When we had a death in the family, the hotel was able to set aside a block of rooms and offer us a bereavement rate within hours so that family coming into town would be able to check in the same afternoon. Each of us were greeted with condolences and received a condolence package including a handwritten sympathy card. I am so appreciative for how easy the hotel made things. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Gave My Prepaid Room Away With No Apologies or Compensation

I prepaid booked my room via June 7, 2019 and my actual stay was not until June 9, 2019. Well to my surprise on June 9th/10th while in route to my booked hotel (after DJing all evening at Dover Downs Casino, DE) I was informed (by a Priceline Agent ) at 1:30am that my room was overbooked and my money was refunded and I shall see it back in my account in 5 business days OMG!!! So now at 1:30 am I am faced with not having a room!!! It gets worse. Apparently there was some type of major sporting event that had all surrounding hotels 🏨 sold out. I then had to drive an additional 15 miles further out to find a vacancy and this all concluded at 2:45 am the next day and the room cost an additional 150 now I am out of pocket double for one nights that I supposed to have had at my original booking. This is unsatisfactory and this type of unprofessionalism should be acceptable to The Marriott Brand. Hopefully, executive staff will look into this matter and take the necessary steps to not let this happen to another customer as well as compensation for my inconvenience. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Well Below Courtyard and Marriott Standards

I am a die-hard Courtyard client, because the quality of the experience and facilities are almost always solid. Not at this property. As others have said, it is clearly a franchise or non-corporate run entity. It is run down, tired, smelly, and simply not worth the prices charged. My room had no microwave - not a big deal, except I drink tea, not coffee, and the only way to 'make tea' is with a microwave. Or an electric tea kettle. I have been to CBMs that have both. This property - neither. My request to the young lady at the desk was met with: "We have microwaves down here in the lobby you can use." Right. I am going to trudge down to the lobby in the early morning hours to make one cup of tea. At a time. While trying to shower, dress, pack and get to my first meeting. The room was tiny and poorly laid out - or rather, had not been updated to reflect current trends in the travel/hospitality industry. Difficult to move around, bathroom tile was chipped and worn. Shower curtain was old and dirty. The area outside the main entrance was also telling - used cigarette butts and the stench of smoke. Turns out, the 'smoking area' is directly in front of the door. How do I know this? Because the portable 'ashtray' was standing right there, never mind the clientele ignored it and threw their used butts on the ground and nobody picked them up. The only upside to my brief stay (less than 8 minutes) was the clerk at the front desk did not hassle me when I came back down to the lobby with my luggage and handed her my key. She quickly refunded my money and off I went. Next door - to the Homewood Suites, which is brand new, bright, clean, fresh, modern, welcoming and spacious. I was upgraded to a master king suite, for less than I was paying at the CBM. If you like small, dirty, worn down, dark, smelly, outdated and no modern amenities, Courtyard Wilmington Brandywine is for you. If you prefer the total opposite, go next door to the Homewood Suites.
