at the Courtyard by Marriott Wilmington Downtown
A two night stay
Feb 2nd, 2020
My husband and I stayed here for two nights on a short road trip. It's in downtown Wilmington and when we were there, there was some construction on the roads around the hotel. The parking is in a parking structure next to the hotel, but the hotel will validate your parking ticket. We had a little problem getting our car on the first morning. I don't think the person at the parking structure was familiar with the Marriott validation. We didn't pay for any parking the time we were there. Our room was spacous and clean. It had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker, but no safe. The bathroom was narrow, the toilet was low and not alot of vanity space. The sitting area had a "chair" that was made more for lounging rather than sitting. There was an outside area for sitting that was comfortable. Although watch that chair you take outside. I think my original chair was broken. The a/c in our room wasn't working right and we weren't told about it. We decided not to move as we were there for only two nights. The hotel was easy to get to and if you have business in downtown Wilmington, this place is probably in a good location for it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Don't stay on a Sunday night!
Jan 13th, 2020
Clean, good value and really nice friendly staff. We booked in for one night and glad it was only one. Although "downtown" there is not a lot in the general vicinity. The restaurant and bar closed on a Sunday which was most disappointing after hours of travelling. There is a little shop right next to reception selling essentials but no beer or wine. We ended up getting an Uber Eats in. Not our usual experience of any type of Marriott and to say we were disappointed by these little things would be an understatement. Upon checking the Marriott website it fails to mention that the restaurant/bar are closed on Sundays as we would have stayed elsewhere. Our stay was comfortable (we had two rooms) and parking is in a multi storey right next to the hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Bullet Came through the wall into my room!
Oct 28th, 2019
October 26th, 2019 I booked a room block for my youth basketball team, over 20 rooms. All the kids were 4th grade to 9th. I stayed on the 3rd floor, right across from me were friends of mine, three kids were in the room, around 4:30 am the room next door (not apart of the room block) were yelling, fighting and causing a ruckus, security was called and asked the guests to please keep the noise down, approx a half hour later a gun shot fired and the BULLET WENT THROUGH THE WALL and into my guests room where three children were sleeping! The guests who shot the gun ran out of the room and disappeared. When staff was notified because a manager wasn't on duty, the staff member came up and examined the gun shot and the BULLET, her response was she was not calling the police, she did not contact her manager and left everything as is including the bullet! Her response was, she hope MY guests did not get charged for the hole on the wall!!! WHAT! I was appalled at how staff handled this situation, a tragedy could have occurred, a child could have been killed! We are traumatized. I will say, Eric the manager was wonderful and apologetic for how the staff handled it. He contacted police and forensics was on scene right away, not a single room was comped which I am still EXTREMELY upset about. Moving forward our team may never block with Marriott again if the situation is not properly handled soon. My guest is thinking of speaking with a trauma counselor as she is very shaken up and afraid, also quite offended as to how staff handled the situation. I do have photos and will post them if I do not get a resolution soon! The police were very helpful and appalled at the situation as well. I would like to thank the on call officers for their compassion and concern for the children. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
A very nice place
Oct 6th, 2019
This hotel is very modern with an excellent breakfast it is on the edge of downtown Wilmington. We came for a craft festival in the park we were able to walk to as well as a nice Japanese restaurant. We traveled to Wilmington by Amtrak and took a short Uber to the hotel. Other guests at the hotel included business people as well as families with small children. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Everyone is simply below average

Staff is disinterested but there weren't any lines at least. Lobby appears redone but is sterile (like most Courtyards). Rooms are extremely small, I was traveling with golf clubs and literally couldn't find a place to put them where they weren't in the way (I couldn't pass by the bed without walking on top of the bed!). Sink is about 3 feet off the ground (ie built in the 80s or so). Location is just OK, the walk to Market Street has some unsafe areas so if you're doing that then get good directions first.
