Covid retreat

Jul 9th, 2020

My wife and I were suffering cabin fever and wanted a unique experience and this sure is that. The boat is so neat. Great accommodations. Super host. Wonderful breakfast, and the upler deck for evening break unequaled. Would really recommend. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Unique B&B experience!

Nov 5th, 2019

A unique B&B experience on a tugboat! Charming accommodations with awesome views of the river, river boat (barge/boat) activities and the downtown St. Paul skyline. We stayed in the Pilot House Suite that had a bedroom with fireplace and a private sitting area (in the pilot house) and private outside deck. It was everything we expected and more. Simple, clean accommodations. We enjoyed adult beverages and the city lights on the outdoor deck until the chill sent us inside. We ordered food delivered from a nearby restaurant and enjoyed that in the main salon/dinner area with a view of the river and passing barges. Liz is a wonderful hostess and breakfast was awesome. If you haven't ventured to a B&B yet, this would be a great place to try the experience out! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Excellent Stay at the Covington Inn

Oct 16th, 2019

We just had a really amazing stay at the Covington Inn. We stayed in the Pilot House room which was an awesome experience. The views of downtown St. Paul are incredible and having the second floor with all of the old controls and everything was really cool, including the deck. Liz was great, as was Bill who checked us in. He was warm and accommodating and told us restaurants that deliver (since it was somewhat snowing the night we stayed). Breakfast was wonderful, Liz and Bill even got it out to us quickly since we had to run off to the airport. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom worked great, and we had no issues. The heat was totally fine. I read some other reviews on here of people who apparently don't know what it is like to even be on a boat - yes the bathrooms are narrow, yes some of the hallways and stairs are cramped. If you are extremely tall, overweight, or have disabilities than yes this may not be the place for you. I am 5'10 and fit in the shower and in the doorways just fine. Yes the parking lot is a slight walk from the boat but if you have a bag with wheels you can simply roll it up to the boat. The boat doesn't even move, you can't feel a thing. If you are someone who isn't high maintenance and is up for a really unique and amazing experience than definitely check this place out. We would gladly stay again. Best, David TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great view and breakfasts!

Jul 26th, 2019

Liz is the perfect hostess! We stayed for two nights. It was very relaxing on the river. The view across the Mississippi at night was fabulous. The breakfast of French toast and fruit with sausages filled us up for the day. Liz had great suggestions for dinner. We took scooters provided by Spin. Fun riding around in the park. We took a trip up the river all the way to see the Stone Arch Bridge. (We came by boat.) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Night on the River

Jun 15th, 2019

Our stay at the Covington Inn was a unique experience. We were able to look out our window in the cozy Mate's Quarters and see the Mississippi flowing by while we were in bed! Downtown St. Paul was lit up after sundown, and we had a beautiful stroll on the dock. (The inn is moored on Harriet Island, which is a good spot for other activities the waterfront has to offer. For example, we took a sunset dinner cruise, and could walk there easily.) Liz's breakfast was French toast (with cinnamon bread!) and fruit. It was very good. The dining room was decorated in sailor motif. If you are looking for Victorian posh, this isn't the place. If you want a unique and memorable experience, go to the Covington Inn. We enjoyed it very much. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
