Exactly What You Expect From Crowne Plaza
Jun 8th, 2020
Whenever I have to stop in ABQ, which is always on a road trip, I always try to stop at Crowne Plaza. It's a slightly older property, but still well kept. It will likely need a facelift in the next few years, but the rooms are clean and beds very comfy. They didn't have the room we booked, which was through a third party site, so they upgraded us to a suite which was very comfortable. There's a steakhouse on site which is convenient, and it's right off the freeway, but you don't notice any noise. The staff are personable and professional, and breakfast was fast, once we got sat down. We did notice a young man waiting when we arrived and after about 5 minutes of no one in the restaurant I did go looking, but the lady did great for keeping up. They seemed a little understaffed in that department, hence the 4 stars. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Nice Hotel Stay But Could Be Improved
Mar 10th, 2020
For a 4 star hotel it was nice for what it had but for an upscale hotel it was lacking in what all the room you get should have in it, this is the first hotel I've stayed at that didn't have a microwave or a fridge in the room for the guests, and the tv wasn't that good of a tv, you had to have the volume almost all the way up just to hear some channels, and some channels had distortion on it, for the amount of money you spend for a room it should offer more, regardless of how upscale it is or that they want you to spend money for stuff in the hotel, it should always have a microwave and a fridge in all the rooms, and a good working tv, or your just basically paying for a substandard room. I stayed for a 3 day conference and received an excellent rate. The hotel is aged; my TV was small and dark contrast. By today's standards, it was lacking. The room's wallpaper showed its age too. Everything was clean. The hotel is near major roads, so you will hear road noise too. The location is good for nearby restaurants and NMU. Food at Cantina was okay too. The staff was good and helpful. It is time to remodel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Be aware the hotel staff will go through your things while you are not there. I had requested more sugar for coffee and was told they would bring it to my room. While I was down stairs at a holiday part, I left a duffel bag unzipped in my room with my purse and wallet. My mistake!! Came back to find the sugar I requested and the duffel bag and my purse all neatly zipped up. I didn't find anything missing but had to make a quick phone call to cancel my cards. The management never made an attempt to make it right besides sending someone to "read" the door lock. I hope they can find the culprit. In addition, TV reception was terrible and some channels didn't even come in and elevators are very slow. Several people serving for the holiday part were rude and in a hurry to clear off our table including taking glasses that were sill full and being used. Time for renovation and new staff Crowne Plaza! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Overall the property is worn. The lampshades in my room were all broken, the other furniture was OK. The elevator was small and pretty slow. First night, I got a burger in the Cantina Bar - the burger was good, but as I was eating a cockroach ran across the bar top right next to my plate. The bartender said he had never seen one there before, so perhaps he was a customer? Up to the cockroach, it had been a decent burger. Last night, my rental car wouldn't start. On investigation, it was because someone opened the hood and removed the battery cables while attempting to steal it. Hurrah for incompetent car thieves? The ballroom where we were meeting was poorly lit, with one light bank flickering like a strobe for the entire afternoon. The staff I encountered were friendly and knowledgeable, but it's hard to outweigh a dated and poorly maintained facility. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
