Aging Facility

Dec 20th, 2019

I stayed for a 3 day conference and received an excellent rate. The hotel is aged; my TV was small and dark contrast. By today's standards, it was lacking. The room's wallpaper showed its age too. Everything was clean. The hotel is near major roads, so you will hear road noise too. The location is good for nearby restaurants and NMU. Food at Cantina was okay too. The staff was good and helpful. It is time to remodel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Dishonest staff

Dec 8th, 2019

Be aware the hotel staff will go through your things while you are not there. I had requested more sugar for coffee and was told they would bring it to my room. While I was down stairs at a holiday part, I left a duffel bag unzipped in my room with my purse and wallet. My mistake!! Came back to find the sugar I requested and the duffel bag and my purse all neatly zipped up. I didn't find anything missing but had to make a quick phone call to cancel my cards. The management never made an attempt to make it right besides sending someone to "read" the door lock. I hope they can find the culprit. In addition, TV reception was terrible and some channels didn't even come in and elevators are very slow. Several people serving for the holiday part were rude and in a hurry to clear off our table including taking glasses that were sill full and being used. Time for renovation and new staff Crowne Plaza! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Better Days

Nov 29th, 2019

Overall the property is worn. The lampshades in my room were all broken, the other furniture was OK. The elevator was small and pretty slow. First night, I got a burger in the Cantina Bar - the burger was good, but as I was eating a cockroach ran across the bar top right next to my plate. The bartender said he had never seen one there before, so perhaps he was a customer? Up to the cockroach, it had been a decent burger. Last night, my rental car wouldn't start. On investigation, it was because someone opened the hood and removed the battery cables while attempting to steal it. Hurrah for incompetent car thieves? The ballroom where we were meeting was poorly lit, with one light bank flickering like a strobe for the entire afternoon. The staff I encountered were friendly and knowledgeable, but it's hard to outweigh a dated and poorly maintained facility. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Awful experience!

Nov 2nd, 2019

Barking dogs from the room next to mine woke me up at 4:30 am. Overpriced, if you are going to function as a motel, then charge as one. Don’t go if you are in a business trip and you need to be awake the next day or if you want to have a restful night! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

This is the Crowne Plaza??

Oct 23rd, 2019

The good: Comfortable bed Great bartenders in their bar The bad: This is a very dated hotel. It’s like a time machine taking you back to the 70’s. The hallways are dark and danky, only 1 [very small] elevator on each side of the building. The carpeting on our floor was dirty and smelled. The old furniture in the room and the rest of the hotel is old and falling apart. Television was useless as it only showed snow. The phones in the room are ancient and don’t work. The cordless one probably hasn’t had a battery replacement in 30 years. We were greeted in the lobby by a cockroach. Thankfully the staff saw it and went to work on it. The WiFi in all areas including our room was useless (.01 mbps on my speed app). The AC floor unit was louder than the noisy I-40 traffic a block away. Good luck maintaining a stable temperature. The bathroom was very small, but did the job. Is this really a Crowne Plaza? Or is it a dated highway motel with pink plastic flamingos and plastic chairs in the parking lot? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
