Central Location - somewhat dated interior

Jan 5th, 2020

Downtown location for a visit to family, the staff were very helpful but the rooms were pretty dated. The carpet looked very old and the interiors were quite dark. Hotel hosted a convention when we were there and it overwhelmed the staff in the breakfast dining room. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Stay Somewhere Else

Jan 1st, 2020

The location is great, which is the biggest plus of this hotel. That said, the walls are so thin. We could hear everything in the room next to us, until 5am, which is around the time they went to sleep. It was pretty terrible. Thank goodness we had packed earplugs, without them I doubt I would have gotten any sleep. The staff were nice and the room was fine, but with the thin walls... I would not stay here again. I’m glad we were only there one night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Hotel

Dec 31st, 2019

I was visiting a friend and I wanted to be able to get from and to the airport without troubling her for the rides and this location was excellent. Plus, the hotel was great. It was modern, well maintained, and the staff was friendly, professional, and helpful, as expected. I am an IHG rewards member so that's why I will choose an IHG property first, but I have been disappointed before. This was not one of those times. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My experience in the hotel was really disappointing

Nov 9th, 2019

The only parking option at the hotel is valet parking, so I left my car there upon my arrival. Next day, on my checking-out, valet workers brought me a car of someone else, insisting it was mine ("the only rental car we have here"). I had hard time proving my car was not those two different Jeeps, quite expensive, they tried to shove to me. We looked for the car keys on the key board - there were none. I also searched for the car through the parking lots, but in vain. I asked to find my car and repay the full amount of parking. This just drove crazy a valet worker who started to scream and shout at me as if it was my fault. All in all, after extensive searches of a third worker, in half an hour my car was eventually found. Later, when I checked the speedometer , it showed a 27 km trip that I did not have. There was no one to talk to, and I had to leave urgently, so I had to go. My experience in the hotel was really disappointing. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Though Worried about Reviews, Had a Great Stay at a Great Rate - Would Stay Again

Oct 7th, 2019

I was very concerned about booking this hotel but it was recommended by my local work colleagues. They insisted downtown is the place to stay. Given constraints with the client on room rates, a quick look at the Hilton would have been nearly $100 / night higher so I relented and booked the Crowne Plaza. Wow - nothing like the experience the past reviews implied. Now, I totally support my fellow TA posters, esp. those with high post counts. So I think your concerns have been heard, and and hotel management has listened! Every contact I had with staff was not just great, but over the top great. Always friendly, going the extra mile. From the initial check int to cafe for lunch and breakfast (Danyelle both times and she is so special - a great rep for the hotel and service was outstanding), room service, bar (bartender Sunday Oct 6 I think was Robert who was outstanding), and interactions with housekeeping. I think the message has gotten to management: this could be a great property, but customer service is everything. Now .. yes, the rooms are not big and the bathroom is about as small as you can get. I also agree with shower stalls are frankly, a problem waiting to happen in that once soap gets on the sloping floor, you want to grab for a handle for stability (I had to put my foot on the drain to give me some stability.) So I think a mat would do the trick or better, handles. But AC worked great and not loud, hot water plentiful, and everything from the ironing board to bed to lighting fixtures with plenty or USB outlets were brand new. Public space is all new. Given the location and price, and hopefully a relentless focus on service, this is a great option for downtown and I will return. To management and all the staff: keep up the great work!
