No jewels in this crowne!

Feb 18th, 2020

I really expected more! We were in town for a real estate convention and the Crowne Plaza was on our list of preferred hotels. Let me start by saying that the day we checked in was quite something. We arrived pretty early so our rooms weren't ready. We left our luggage and went on to enjoy our convention. We received a phone call around lunchtime that our room was ready. We got there around 430 pm to be told that our room wasn't ready but we were getting upgraded and it would be well worth waiting for. As we sat in the lobby waiting, all but 1 of the entire staff took off running outside to confront someone. You could hear them screaming and cussing at the top of their lungs. One employee came back in and kept yelling "don't do drugs". We finally got to our room and if it was an upgrade, I'm thankful I never saw a regular room. The room was so outdated and just felt dirty. The bathroom was hardly big enough to turn around in and our clean towels had a nice long hair laying on top. I was shocked to hear that the place had recently been updated. We barely had enough time to drop our bags before heading to dinner. Thank goodness there was a complimentary shuttle within a three mile radius.....well....our complimentary shuttle pulled up to drive us to dinner. It was the loudest of the employees that had been in the earlier altercation and she was driving a beat up van. She told great stories along the way. Like she had gotten in at 3am but managed to make it in by 7 am and she needed the tips to pay for the money she had spent the night before. We took an uber back! I went to the bar when we got back to use my complimentary drink ticket. The bartender poured my wine in a glass, I handed her my drink ticket, she then poured my wine from the glass to a plastic cup. To say the staff was unprofessional is an understatement. There was 1 employee that seemed very genuine and helpful and I really wish that I had gotten her name. The only positives I can come up with really have nothing to do with the hotel other than location. It is within walking distance to the convention center and that came in handy. Never again will I ever stay at this hotel! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Really comfortable

Feb 15th, 2020

Stayed for a single night after a long delayed flight it was perfect, clean, excellent service from the staff at the check in desk who advised me where to eat when it was late and the hotel restaurant was closed. Would definitely recommend staying here, the train ride from DFW really doesn’t take that long and it’s super close to the hotel in Dallas Downtown. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Feb 7th, 2020

Staying here fot a local racing event at Fsir Park. Valet parking is $30 or self parking for $18. The hotel is on a corner with very litle space to drive up for valet, if self parking just drive into the garage that is attached. Good- Great shower pressure and HOT water.Comfortable King bed. One of the better rates in downtown. Bad- Construction going on in the lobby so loud I could not hear the clerk checking us in. She was pleasant and patient with the situation.Super small lobby for a big hotel.Small rooms with very small bathrooms. Ugly- Although next to DART station, it is also a hangout for all types and we had to walk through going to a restaurant. Very visible police presence however. We did ride Green Line to Fair Park with no problem. I would probably stay at another hotel next time. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

To My Surprise

Jan 30th, 2020

This Hotel is situated in an excellent location. The entrance of the building is in need of a serious upgrade so I was extremely disappointed upon entering. From this point, I was not expecting anything better as far as the room, but to my surprise the room didn’t disappoint, it was pretty nice and reaching 4+ star ratings. However Our room had an issue with the heating, but once notified of the problem the manager “Bryan A” addressed the matter to my satisfaction which makes it worth a try at staying there again!!! Recently renovations are complete

Jan 26th, 2020

I have to really nitpick to find things that weren't ideal, but nothing would prevent me from going back. The place is clean and comfortable with everything accessible. Suggestions to staff would be to wash the filthy window exteriors. It's a shame the renovations didn't upgrade the light switches (unless you prefer dim lighting you have to turn on about a dozen switches). There are the usual downtown noises (ambulance, police, mass transit) that bother some people but I slept nicely despite the over-full, hard pillows by improvising. Pro tip: ask for a room as high as possible to avoid the noises and on a side of the hotel away from the transit car route. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
