News Years Eve

Feb 11th, 2020

Having never been to a hotel NYE Party - I wasn’t sure what to expect and We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our group reservations worked beautifully, Dinner was better than I expected and the band (yes they played hard but look like they could use a good rest) kept us hopin’ all night. I was pleased to see plenty of gluten free options which is a must for me. No shortage of food but the drink wait staff couldn’t keep up - they were short handed but they kept on smiling which made it nice for everyone TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Okay stay

Jan 19th, 2020

Arrived late and it took them a minute to find our reservations despite us having our confirmation numbers. But front desk was super friendly and apologetic for the mix up. Room was clean except for the long hair I found in the shower. Room had an odd smell but the turn down service provided a small spray of lavender to spray before going to bed which helped the smell. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Construction was going on so if you’re trying to nap during the day, you can forget it. My shower had drainage issues and I had to bump the thermostat up to 77 to get the room warm. Hotel is in a great location across from Market Square. They are currently renovating the rooms as well. It’s ok for a short stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

Jan 14th, 2020

My wife was a big fan of this hotel because it allowed pets and had a pool. The rooms were nice the staff was good but we had several issues. The first night the pool room and the pool water were freezing and so having three kids wanting to swim made this a big disappointment. I brought this to the staffs attention the first night but it was shockingly not addressed by the second night. I was more adamant that this be resolved by our third night but when I checked in the morning it was still not solved. When I finally got a manager involved it was finally addressed by our third night. Even at that if you are looking for a nice pool pass on this one. There is no hot tub and the lighting in the room is very poor. I also do not recommend the restaurant. The food was fair to poor, the service was terrible, and even there weekend buffet was not very good. On the pet issue make sure you have a carrier. We only had to leave our pet twice during the day and she did bark so the staff removed the dog from the room so as not to inconvenience guests which I understand so we were not upset (although it was the middle of the day so not sure why anyone cared). Just be aware they can do that. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location for New Year's Eve celebration!

Jan 8th, 2020

We stayed here as part of a New Year's Eve package- dinner, dancing, room and breakfast. We had the perfect room on the 10th floor overlooking Market Square and were able to view the fireworks at midnight from the warmth of our room. The Crowne Plaza always goes out of their way to make us feel welcome and make our stay extra special. Nice restaurant onsite and a cozy bar for before and after dinner drinks! Excellent place to stay for any downtown Knoxville events. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Disappointing Stay

Dec 26th, 2019

My husband and I frequent Knoxville many times during a year. This is usually our go-to hotel. We also have frequent stays at the Hyatt Place downtown and stayed once at the Oliver. I left a review a year ago stating that the Crown Plaza was a “Consistently Good” hotel. However, our most recent stay was disappointing overall. First event: When settling into our room, my husband discovered that the toilet was used/ not clean/ not ready for a new guest. I’m actually embarrassed to type this, and I hope it doesn’t happen to anyone else, but there was a “#2 surprise” left in the toilet. Grossed out, I called the front desk. They were super helpful and quickly set us up in a different room. They also gave us two breakfast vouchers to use the next morning. Second event: The next morning, while still in bed at around 9am, we heard knocking, but we thought it was probably across the hall. Unfortunately, it was our door, and the housekeeping staff made her way in. She apologized and quickly left. I haven’t had that happen before, so it was a little startlingly (but also funny). Besides these two events, the staff was wonderful, as always! Parking is always easy and I can tell that the hotel is finally completing updates to their rooms. Very sadly, the first event is still hard to shake off... it gives me some significant doubt in their cleaning/ room preparing standards. We will not stay at this hotel again in the future. :-( TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
