Pre flight disaster

Stayed here before a family holiday with my disabled son was very aware of COVID restrictions but nowhere did it mention lack of shuttle buses A taxi was called by the hotel that came from Manchester City centre and we were charged £12 for a 2 minute journey plus £5 for the return taxi It’s an easy 10 minute walk but NOT with a disabled person and 3 suitcases. This is truly Not acceptable TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Difficult times

Stayed overnight on October 2. Hotel very quiet due to Covid. Room extremely clean, staff lovely and couldn't do enough. There is no complimentary shuttle bus due to operational restraints and low staffing but that is understandable. We were offered a lift by a member of staff, but walked to terminal, it took 5 minutes. We should have vacated room at 12 noon but manager let us stay until. 2pm, which was much appreciated. Food and drinks were good and we enjoyed the experience. It's worth noting this hotel is running on 10% occupancy, hence low staffing levels. After speaking to staff it's obvious everyone who is working at the moment is trying their very best to accommodate visitors. These are very difficult times but because of the service I received I would not hesitate to return. Hopefully better times will return very soon. Thank you all concerned. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor this time round

We have stayed here several times in the past and it has always been great with a choice of eateries but there was only the bar open and far too busy with what appeared to be one waiter and one waitress serving everyone. We stood waiting to be shown a clean table and after 10 minutes the very pleasant gentleman on reception came over and sorted one out for us but had to start clearing the table and wiping down before we could be seated. I am not sure the level of sanitation required was high enough and there was food on the floor. We heard another customer complaining and did wonder about continuing to order but there was nowhere else without going outside of the hotel and it was quite late. We chose the fish & chips as you cannot really go wrong with those and they did eventually arrive and were fine but they should have had far more staff to cover this busy area, especially in light of the current situaiton. We only discovered on check in that there would be no shuttle bus service the next day which was far from ideal as I have not long had a full hip replacement but a taxi to take us 400 m would be £12 which seemed ludicrous so we struggled with our suitcases at 4 am the next morning. It was still pitch black outside and I fail to understand what the difference is between the shuttle bus or a taxi. We appreciate it is complimentary but we (and I suspect many other customers) would have been happy to pay for the convenience which is why we selected this hotel in the first place. The rooms are looking a little tired now but the bedding and bathroom were clean, the bedroom carpet was not! I am not sure we would choose this hotel again and would select the Drop and Go option for the car next time at the airport. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

starting to look a bit dated

We have stayed here countless times in the past. We always like the service food and rooms. We understand that there are changes because of Covid but were not informed on booking just what services were missing. We ate in the bar area the only thing that was open. I ordered a salad and my husband fish and chips. some of the items in the salad were missing and I had to send it back twice. There was a long delay in finally getting the meal by then my Husband had finished so I was eating on my own. I did tell the server that I was not happy about it and also mentioned it at reception the morning after. They are not running the shuttle service they said due to Covid but this does not make sense as taxis etc are still working. This was a big disappointment. The terminal is no more than 200 yards away but I cant manage that as I have mobility issues . Reception offered to call us a cab. They used street cars they charged us £12 for that short journey scandalous. I know there is a charge for drop off at the airport but even so. What is usually a lovely start to the holiday as we up grade to club. Was a real damp squib TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No shuttle bus

Was very disappointed with our park and stay here. Booked a couple of weeks prior to stay and the confirmation stated free shuttle transfer. The man on reception on Friday 2nd October was pleasant and friendly. Our room was warm and comfortable though the bed did have a roll into the centre. Rather dated and weary though. Slept well and went down to find a different male receptionist who was very abrupt and said there was no shuttle running due to Covid. The Clayton next door seemed to be operating OK and what’s the difference with the shuttle and a taxi? Just cost cutting and not offering when my confirmation promised. He rather condescendingly explained that it was complimentary and had been withdrawn. He offered to ring me a taxi at my own expense but we decided we would walk. Will not be staying there again.
