Overcharged

I had some business in Pittsfield, MA last week so I decided to take my 11 year old son with me to make a fun little vacation out of it. I ended up booking a 2 night stay at this hotel and used the book now pay later option. I was told on the phone and on my confirmation E-Mail that the total amount would be $210. Upon arrival, the charge was actually $262 because of a $50 incidentals fee which I was not told about prior, but it would be refunded at checkout so I figured this was still reasonable and paid the fee, $200 on one card and $62 on another. I was at breakfast the next morning and when I went to pay my bill, to my surprise my card was declined, so I checked my charges and saw the hotel had charged my card an additional $302 without my knowledge!! When I went to the front desk to ask about the charges they informed me that this was “another” deposit charge and would also be refunded upon checkout.. I was upset that no one informed me that I would be charged an extra $302 and to top it off this was the money I planned to use while we were here but there was nothing I could really do at this point and the front desk employee assured me it would be refunded at check out. The next day at checkout I figured I would hand in my Keys, make sure to get my refund, and that was it but of course not! The woman processing my checkout says to me “And how would you like to pay”. I tell her oh I already paid when I checked-in.. she proceeds to tell me that I didn’t pay for my room but yet again the $200 (That should of paid for the room) was ALSO a deposit!! Now Im beyond upset because not only have they charged my card over $500 dollars in “deposits” but now she says that the refund will take between 3-5 business days to go back on my card and because they took the $262 and $302 already now I have no money on my card and still have to pay the $210 for my stay! I ended up having to give them ANOTHER $200 in cash at checkout.. Overall for a 2 night stay at the Holiday Inn I ended up paying over $700!!! Not only was my vacation ruined because I had no money to spend but also now I have late fees on bills that were supposed to be auto paid because I’m still waiting for the $200 charge to be refunded. If this wasn’t bad enough I had to bring my son to see his Dr. the next day because he got a painful itchy rash on both of his forearms from the pool and he was prescribed a steroid cream. I have complained to IHG they gave me some points and told me they would have the hotel contact me. I waited and no Email so I called today myself and spoke with a manager.. I am waiting for a call back which I probably won’t get but at this point I highly doubt I will ever be staying here again which is a shame because I normally stay at the holiday inn and have no issues but this was just awful! A horrible experience!! In my opinion I should be refunded for my stay for the inconvenience that this cost me.. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

WARNING! Read this! DANGEROUS

The hotel takes down negative reviews!!! This is not a fair practice. My specific experience was pretty awful at this hotel except for the fact that they upgraded my room upon check in. Please see the attached picture with a copy of the email that had my original review that was deemed inappropriate. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We had a really good stay. I was particularly impressed, and happy, that having left two items in our room, the hotel staff were so helpful. They found both items and mailed them to us very promptly. Kids loved the pool ! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Grace and the rest of the Holiday Inn staff handled our large group very professionally and throughly. Additionally, the restaurant and breakfast were outstanding. The staff consistently went above and beyond every day. I also worked very closely with Grace and Tracey to make sure our rooming list was accurate and all our employees checked in and out on the correct day. This was a very difficult logistics plan to manage and the staff handled it beautifully. I hope we get another opportunity to have our group stay again in the near future. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My family loves the hotel.

The service is impeccable, they are courteous and quick to assist. Rooms are clean and spacious. We will be utilizing this hotel again when we visit the Berkshires. Thanks Grace and Chuck For always being so helpful to us. The Junik Family TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
