Great Visit

Mar 9th, 2020

Zach and Anne at check in were very nice and accommodating. Large hotel for this size town. Free parking. Indoor pool was great. Common areas were nice. Escalators weren’t working. Rooms were updated and very nice. Plenty of hot water. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not A Business Hotel; No Integrity

Mar 6th, 2020

First off, this is a conference venue for all the small Illinois associations you never heard of. Supposedly renovated after a change in ownership, and the reception area on the 2nd floor is lots of marble or granite. but the rooms are still shabby. There are vibrating recliners near the reception desk (for a fee) ;that should tell you a lot. My business contract calls for 4 more Springfield trips in the coming months and I'll either stay next door at the HI Express or 2 doors down at the Garden Inn. The incident that really spurred this post: I had a morning meeting followed by an early flight. I checked with the front desk the night before, requesting a late checkout. Wanted to change before the flight back to Florida. The nice lady at the desk informed me that the hotel was full (special education teachers were in town) and she could only give me an extra hour. Noon, fine. Appropriate arrangements were made. Next morning went to front desk for a copy of my bill and informed Shane, just need the statement, not checking out till noon. Shane says no-can-do. 11 AM check-outs are absolute. He refused to acknowledge the previous agreement or search my file for the notation made by the lady the evening before. Asked to see the manager; he claims to be the manager. Was late for my appointment and left with a very sour taste for the Crowne Plaza. Call IHG customer service and they listened but said there was not a lot thet could do about. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Awful Experience

Feb 15th, 2020

Awful. Booked by phone, asked for a king suite with a connecting double queen. We live 20 minutes away and just wanted to hang out and swim for my 6 and 15 year olds birthdays. The person did checking to make sure it was possible. Got our confirmation emails. Arrive at the hotel, waited in line for 20 minutes at 2pm. Find out the pool is closed. The check in woman was very defensive when I inquired. She was trying to show me where on the website it said pool closed when I booked. It did not from the mobile site and I booked via phone and was not told. I have screenshots of the mobile site saying there was a pool and spa but nothing about it being closed. I asked the birthday girls and they wanted to stay anyway. We get to our rooms and they are filthy dirty, not adjoining as our kids room was around the corner. We had no linens for the pullout, no trash bags, that's gross for the bathroom. 1 towel, 1 washcloth in the king suite. The Keurig was disgusting, the refrigerator didnt work and ruined our dinner food and our chocolate covered strawberries. There looked to be feces in the floor. Just a very run down place, I've stayed at nicer Days Inn hotels. Just an awful experience. Will attach pictures. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

All around quality

Feb 7th, 2020

Crown Plaza has been hosts for my husbands conference for many years. We always stayed at the Crown Plaza until 4 years ago when we moved to the area. Weather made us decide to stay once again. Love the upgrades to the rooms! They feel fresh & new. This time we were on the 11th floor! What a view!! The staff is friendly and even though this is a large facility everyone is very helpful. The entry is grand as always. The room was a great size & very clean. Enjoyed the availability of Starbucks as well as the restaurants in the building. It was especially appreciated during the ice/snow storm we were having. My husband enjoys being able to just take the elevator down to the different meeting rooms. Parking is plentiful. Access to Springfield Capital & restaurants downtown is 10 to 15 minutes. Probably 25 to 30 to Lincoln Memorial & War memorials. They are many chain restaurants nearby. We have decided to stay during next years conference even if the wrathrr is good. The only reason it was 4 instead of 5 was the very beautiful pool was closed. Disappointing but understandable that these things happen. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Outstanding customer service

Jan 27th, 2020

Our visit to Springfield and our stay at the Crowne Plaza could not havge been better! A few days before our visit, the GM reached out to us to pre-welcome us. When we arrived we were upgraded to a suite. We were there with 3 other couples from college, and the staff graciously placed us in a conference room on the top floor so that we could all be together. Every hour or so throughout the evening, two staff persons came by the conference room to make sure everything was OK and to see if we needed anything. After we checked earlier in the day, the front desk texted us periodically to see if there was anything we needed. I've stayed in MANY hotels over the years, and this is the ONLY hotel that has ever provided this service for me and my wife. AMAZING! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
