Overview

Massive fitness center with an indoor lap pool
Customer service received mixed reviews

Anchored in buzzing Times Square, this Crowne Plaza earns high marks among recent guests for its vibrant locale and accommodating staff. And a fairly recent $85 million renovation has fitted this Crowne Plaza with double-glazed windows that open (to keep all of that Times Square noise outside), a 29,000-square-foot fitness center (the largest in the neighborhood) and eateries like Brasserie 1605 and Broadway 49 Bar & Lounge. Plus, the accommodations tout amenities like HD TVs, coffee makers and complimentary Wi-Fi access (upgrade the speed for a nightly fee), catering to leisure and business travelers alike. A few recent visitors said they expected better customer service for the price paid, but most were generally pleased with their stay due to the hotel's spacious suites and ideal location. Another bonus: This hotel falls under the InterContinental Hotels Group, so you can earn or redeem IHG Rewards Club points by choosing to stay here.

Given the 46-story, L-shaped Crowne Plaza building, many of the rooms, especially on the higher floors, come with some amazing views.

Guest Rooms

Crowne Plaza Times Square Manhattan features contemporary rooms decorated in an assortment of beiges with bright blue accent colors, and some have smartly upholstered chaise lounges. Many rooms come with windows that open (a rarity in New York, especially Times Square), and all feature king-sized or double beds. Other standard amenities include coffee makers, radio alarm clocks and HD TVs. Roll the dice and choose the "Run of House" option – pay a set fare and let the front desk decide where to put you based on availability; it's a way to potentially score the best room more affordably but is best suited for guests with flexible accommodation needs.
  • Complimentary in-room Wi-Fi access covered by daily service fee of $30; upgrade the speed for $9.95 per night
