Very poor 5*

Jul 12th, 2019

Stayed as a family of 5 for one week in July. The hotel is the only modern 5* hotel in Trouville so it was the sensible option. Before arriving, we made several basic room requests via email and also phone-call (such as wanting a room on a certain floor) which were totally ignored. Upon entering the room, it was clearly very cramped and the seating area had been built into the wall to save space. There was also little space for luggage. The bathroom was OK but we had no bath. We had a nice view of the sea, however the window was very small and only half-height. The bed was a standard size, however the pillows were very uncomfortable. The room was also very dusty and housekeeping consistently made a poor effort and cleaning the rooms, acting more of a turndown service. Housekeeping also walked into the room on several occasions without knocking which was unexpected. After settling into the rooms, we attempted to locate the spa. The layout of the whole hotel is extremely confusing and access to the spa is extremely complex for the first time. After visiting reception, we were directed back to the 3rd floor to a separate elevator to the spa. This took us to -2 level. We then had to get out and walk up 2 flights of stairs to the changing rooms. The pool is very attractive to look at, however the layout of the pool is extremely poor at times when the hotel is busy because there is very little swimming space. On multiple occasions one pool was also fully closed off due to an activity with only one person, whilst the other pool was very overcrowded. The pool and spa is definitely not suited for families. Returning back to the room, we noticed the corridor overlooked a courtyard in need of heavy maintenance; we later realised that this was a different hotel that you can see from inside the hotel corridors looking out of the internal windows to the courtyard. On further inspection of the room, we found that the curtains did not stay closed on their own and we had to use a chair to prop them shut, which housekeeping kept moving. The curtains and other fixtures and fittings were also damaged, which is not expected for a nearly-new hotel. Perhaps this is because the fixtures and fittings were cheap; mostly plastic in the bathroom. Breakfast was OK. Good choice of hot/cold food, however tea/coffee service was slow and staff were very slow at clearing empty plates. Breakfast staff spoke very poor English. Thankfully, the concierge team were very helpful and friendly. The seemed to be the only part of the hotel staff that also spoke reasonable English. The concierge team was the only part of our stay which met/exceeded expectations. Overall, a very poor experience for a 5* hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful Hotel with wonderful fin d'siecle vibe

Jun 25th, 2019

The hotel is situated practically on the beach. It looks and feels like one of the luxury hotels one might imagine from the pre-WW I period. It is in walking distance (300m?) from the street along the sea shore where one can find many restaurants. The room we had was very comfortable, well-appointed, and quiet. Breakfast is wonderfully rich. The staff were unfailingly helpful and courteous. We would be happy to stay there again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very Disappointed!

Jun 11th, 2019

We were so disappointed in this hotel. It is beautiful but not a 5 star in service or the room. When we arrived, no one greeted us until i went into the hotel to find someone. The rooms are quite small but comfy, even though there is no iron, not enough area to do makeup or your hair as there are no outlets in the bathroom and the mirror is not user friendly (I did mine hair & makeup each day on the floor by the door), and ours had mold in the shower. Also, two days we were there, we had the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. The first day, the maid had come in while we were gone, moved our stuff around, and cleaned our room. The second day, we were still in the room when the maid tried to enter without knocking. My husband has just gotten out of the shower and luckily i was by the door keeping her from entering. She was even holding the Do Not Enter sign when trying to come in! We had just come from the Waldorf in Versailles and had a completely different experience where the rooms were beautiful and roomy, the staff couldn't be more helpful, and all at half the price of this hotel. I will say though, Laurent was wonderful! He was our concierge, valet, and bag boy all in one. He was so helpful and friendly, so a big shout out to him! The pools and spas were wonderful! Save your money and find a different hotel as there are many beautiful ones in Trouville without the very steep cost. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice break in Trouville/s/Mer

May 2nd, 2019

HI, we spent 3 nights at the "Accor Cures Marines" and overall had a good stay. The hotel is nicely decorated, personnel is very nice, breakfast is good. Location is great - just opposite the harbour/beach. We are Platinum Accor members and were automatically upgraded. We always ask for a quiet top floor room but the lady at reception told me they allocated us on the first floor in a bigger room which we (unfortunately) accepted. That room was actually a kind of family room with a couch and closed bathroom (bath). When we arrived in the room we heard a lot of noise from running/walking. We were not worried but as the noise was still there after 11 pm/midnight we got very mad. We managed to sleep but only around 1 am in the morning. Very annoying. The next day we had the same scenario. We thought it was actually coming from the room above us but after some investigation (next day) we found out that a small kid was running around in the room and corridor which was located on the ground floor. On the second day, around midnight, we again heard the noise and called reception. The very kind and helpful concierge came in our room and could not believe his ears. He checked if any other rooms were available. Nothing on the top floor but on the third floor. So we packed and moved (in our pyjamas) to our new room. The room was smaller with an open bathroom and italian shower. It was ok. We were really very upset about the whole situation. It looks like everyone was aware about the problem but the parents seemed not to be bothered at all. The building was built in 1912 and it looks like they could not do anything about the soundproofing . A shame really because the building is really nice. Anyway, apart from this incident we had a good time. Ciao, Sara TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
