Excellent Marriot

Aug 1st, 2019

The Marriott Solana is a wonderful hotel! It is architecturally stunning with a layout that provides for quiet rooms, yet is fun and exciting in the main areas (bar/restaurant, lobby, pool). They have recently allowed pets, which is perfect for us and our little shih tzu! The outside area is easy to access with grass and areas to stroll around. If you ever get a chance for concierge access, it's a must do! This lounge is one of the best we've enjoyed (Lillie and Carmen are hospitable and wonderful to talk with). The food is fantastic, the presentations are beautiful and the staff throughout the entire hotel is great! Kind, professional, and very accommodating! You can tell that Juan (General Manager) knows how to manage his staff - everyone is happy! Gail and her housekeeping team are fantastic. They are thorough and thoughtful on those days you just have to sleep in! Jenica, John and the front desk staff are very helpful and quick to please. We asked to change rooms so I could have desk that was a little lower to work on and they gave me room options to see which would work best, and easily changed my room to accommodate my needs. There are a few restaurants at the plaza here, which also makes it nice. And the food at the restaurant/bar in the hotel has really yummy food and plenty of options. Julia and Alex take such good care of us! And the full Starbucks here in the hotel is spectacular! We are Titanium Elite for life it that helps you understand how often we stay at Marriotts. This is seriously a fantastic property! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Poor sleep quality

Jul 16th, 2019

This is my second trip to the Solana. My first, last year, consisted of a room change due to skunk smell in my suite. After several calls and an engineer trying to dry out the vents with some sort of ultra violet machine, they moved me to a different room. I was a bit annoyed that it took several calls but it was fine. This time around I was put on the third floor, no upgrade despite my Marriott status. The room is large but I have not been able to sleep at all due to the noise of the air conditioning clicking on and off. Now, that might sound silly but let me tell you it is honestly the loudest fan and switch I have ever heard in my life. I feel like the furnace is next to my head. The worst part is, like others have mentioned, it doesn’t simply stay on and cool the room. Instead, it turns on for maybe one minute then shuts off for five and turns back on again. The cycle of noise makes it virtually impossible to sleep. It’s midnight as I write this, with a 7am flight scheduled. The rooms are dated, to say the least. Mattress and pillows are terrible, the desk is too tall for the chair making it difficult to work, the bathroom is showing serious age, etc. In all, the Solana is not up to the normal Marriott standards for room quality despite the friendly staff and well appointed lobby. Nice Experience

Jul 9th, 2019

This was a very nice hotel. The room was always clean, the pool area was nice and the front desk staff was very accommodating. The only bad thing I can say is that the hot food items on the breakfast buffet were not hot. They were lukewarm at best. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great for quick stays over the weekend

Jul 2nd, 2019

We had a graduation event to attend and my son and I stayed here on a Saturday night. The hotel was not crowded, and parking was easy. The concierge lounge for rewards members was not open on Sunday mornings, which is a huge negative for this property. Otherwise the rooms and property were clean and well kept. It was a great value staying at this property. Did not get an upgrade, and would complain about that however there was an Indian Wedding event happening so I'm pretty sure he wasn't lying about them being full. We still got concierge level, but the concierge services during the weekend are spotty. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
