Needs some TLC

As a pretty loyal Bonvoy customer, I was really excited for our stay at the Delta in Whistler. The Delta hotels that I’ve been to in the past have always been well kept and maintained. This location is unlike any other that I’ve been to. It seemed like there were a number of little things that weren’t typical of a bonvoy stay. We didn’t have a coffee pot in our room, our room keys often stopped working, our shower didn’t drain, the door to our room had to be sanded so that we could open the door when we arrived. The carpets throughout the hotel are frayed and are showing their age. I appreciate that the staff were doing their best during the pandemic, but this experience has left me questioning which hotel chain/brand to be loyal to in the future. The hotel is in a great location and the staff are polite. That said, I’d still think long and hard before ever returning. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

No Luggage Storage, Fireplaces Not Functional, Bad Service Overall

As a loyal Marriott rewards member who travels all over the world and stays at Marriott properties (my mother ran Marriott hotels for over two decades and I have been going to the hotels for years), I was very disappointed with my stay. I understand Covid causes issues, but we were traveling with motorcycles and were refused storage of our helmets and motorcycle bags on our check out day. It was only after going through three layers of management that the hotel relented, and with much consternation. My husband and I have been traveling to hotels all over B.C. in June/July and have yet to experience issues with storage. Also, the fireplaces are not functional in the summer. Both the lack of storage, no fireplace, and other things like having to book the pool (well ahead and forget it if you stay one night) should be clearly stated on the website. The hotel rates have not changed, but the level of service is way way down, so they should be offering a rate commensurate with the less than 3 star service (other hotels are doing this). I will not be staying here when I return to Whistler in August, or likely ever again. I will also tell anyone I know who travels on motorcycle tours or needs to store luggage after an 11:00am check out to steer clear of this hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great Staff

Rooms and accommodation were all nice enough. The real highlight is the helpful staff. Specific acknowledgment for Lourdes who managed the reservations/booking for the pool. She was very friendly, patient & kind! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great but not excellent

The good/great: Customer service. Very friendly all around, from the bike shop, to the front desk, to the maintenance and housekeeping staff. They are very responsive to needs and issues that arose (see the not excellent). The rooms are clean and cosmetically, they’ve been updated (new countertops/faucets, etc). We had a two bedroom suite and it was spacious and well equipped. Value was excellent. Location is excellent. Beds and pillows are comfortable. Covid-19 protocols excellent (Hand sani, mandatory masks, extra disinfecting wipes in room, no room service, etc.). The not excellent: Parts of the hotel seem dated/old. The toilets don’t flush well (and they look old), the fan/AC units are VERY LOUD! We were here during a heat spell and our AC stopped working. A friendly maintenance person tried to get it back up and running three times to no avail. So we were moved to another suite (AC worked perfectly although it also was very loud). Because of the new 1 person/family per elevator rule, there were frustrations with getting an elevator - it would stop at our floor with someone on it, most of the time. We learned to use the stairs, but only one appeared to be accessible via outside with the room key - perhaps something they could upgrade if Covid-19 protocols remain...creating swipe mechanisms on all exterior staircase doors. Obviously this last issue is not something they could have anticipated...although it is a frustration that staircases in hotels are always dingy, dirty, not easily found or accessed, and an ‘afterthought’. Parking at $35/day is ridiculous. Overall, I’d probably stay here again because of the value, location, and great customer service. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great location.

Well located hotel with spacious rooms with kitchens. Issue we had that the cleaning was not so good and we had to ask several times to have our room cleaned and they missed a major item couple times. When we pointed this out, the staff and managers took immediate action and made up for it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
