A special place

A truly favorite hotel with outstanding facilities and tremendous ambiance. Beautiful and upbeat, a great choice for a special celebration. Did prefer the prior design and decoration in the very expansive lobby which had been, in our view, very special and considerably more extraordinary than the replacement current design. Regardless, the Grand Floridian is a truly favorite hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

3 Tips- Perfect for families

Requested a stepping stool at the Front Desk and Housekeeping delivered to room in less than 10 min. Probably one of the best Resorts if you plan to visit Magic Kingdom. Not to mention the convenience of taking the Boat or Monorail to Magic Kingdom. The grounds are gorgeous and the Front Desk staff are accommodating. Rooms do need to be updated but are spacious. Better dining options at the Polynesian Village Resort next door. The Pool area is beautiful, Mrs. loved the H20 bath products. Tip 1: walk when heading from the Grand Floridian to the Polynesian Village Resort, it is faster than taking the Monorail. Take the Monorail when going from Polynesian Village Resort to Grand Floridian. Tip 2: Dining trends towards the expensive side if you are delayed (scroll below to read about Narcoossee's) or looking for full service restaurants. Tip 3: stop by local Publix and get some snacks & bottled water for the kids. There was no bottled water in our room. Now for the not soo positive. We were delayed at the rental car counter, could not reach Narcoossee's in time, and have to pay "No Show Fee” of $10 per person. If we do re-visit- we will dedicate one day at the Grand Floridian (splash pool, water slides, playground, live music in the lobby, movies on the lawn) and make fewer dining reservations. Not magical at All!

We just returned from this resort after a weekend stay. I will say that we've stayed at hotels, resorts all over the world. Some average and some over the top, including Allegretto Resort in Paso Robles,California and The Breakers, in Florida I can say with 100% certainty that this resort comes in at the bottom of the rating scale compared with average hotels such as Hilton Garden Inn and even Holiday Inn. While the service from some staff was very nice and personable, overall, we felt that when presented with problems, no one went above and beyond to fix anything. Along with this, basic amenities that you would get even at the most basic hotel, these didn't exist here. No water in the rooms, not complimentary and not for sale. Two nights we both woke up sweating and had to open the door for breeze as the thermostat didn't go down less than 68. This was extremely uncomfortable. I didn't have internet service on my laptop so was unable to contact the General Manager who left a written letter in the room stating 'if you have a problem, just email me". Smart move as to not get bothered with tons of emails Mr. Kapoor. The food was subpar to say the least, cold soup served at the Gasparila. Limited availability of meals, long lines with lack of seating, averaging 1.5 hours wait. There are too many customers and not enough places to eat. The check in service was not organized properly. At a time when you have people traveling very long hours to get to their destination, you would think that there would be every available cashier open to have check ins going faster. While the receptionist were very knowledgeable and friendly, it doesn't help when you have to wait for such a long period just to get checked in...this doesn't make for a good first impression. Our coffee pot in our room was broken, I asked the housekeeping staff to get me a different one to replace. She was kind enough to say, no problem, I'll call and order you some coffee. I thought, wow, that's really nice....it ended up being a nice thought only.....the coffee never came, neither did the apology for never getting any coffee. Other aggravations included not being able to watch anything we wanted on TV, no HBO available which we would have been happy to pay for, no mini bar for snacks, no clock in the room, no do not disturb sign, failure to clean our room when we left for the day, no workout facilities on site and a very noisy room. When we left, of course you're asked, was everything okay with your stay? I'm not sure why this question is asked, as the manager's response was, yes, we've heard this before. She obviously had heard of all these complaints previously, only didn't have an answer for it, other than, well we're very busy here. I am an RN and I can tell you that if I dared say that to any of my patients, my job would be gone. They don't need to hear that and I as a paying customer don't need to hear it either. It's not an excuse...if you're that busy, hire more staff. I have many, many friends that visit Orlando and I will definitely be a advising them not to stay here! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Grand Floridian Royal Palm Club Level, Standard view

We have stayed at 3 of the delux Disney world hotels, all club level and this is by far our favorite. You cant feel more Disney princess than this hotel. Infact there is even a salon that transforms little girls and boys into princesses, pirates or princes. We stayed club level, royal palm main building, where appetizers and alcohol, tea and coffee is included. The hotel staff was great. The place is spotless. The beds are very comfortable and you cant beat the live music playing in the lobby, and frequent visits from disney characters such as sleeping beauty, or cinderella and her stepsisters. First And Last

The building is beautiful and stands out among all other hotels. It has a very southern feel. However, my experience with a family of five was unpleasant. We had problems with our magic bands which caused us problems at the entrance of every park and with scheduling passes. Despite the Manager (Mathew) saying it was resolved the next day, we continued to have problems. Each time we were diverted to another long line for guest services. In fact at a PizzaRizo restaurant, a purchase went through without a pin. I set a pin...what happened? Some pictures did not scan to my bands. Then, the hotel room has large fluorescent stains on walls, carpets and bathroom. Basically, I didn’t want to walk around the room barefoot specially with little ones wanting to sit on floor. There was literally not enough space for a family of 5 in that room at Boca Chica building. The balcony we got was..,well less than charming with two chairs facing a wall. The distance from our room to the front desk was quite a distance. So remember after walking 15 miles, this is another hurdle. The sofa-bed has one strap ripped. I really felt gross for my 6 year old who had to sleep there. Then, we were unable to make reservations at any restaurant on day 2 at the hotel nor were they taking walk-ins at their restaurants. We have 3 children 6 and under and they were STARVING. So warming MAKE reservations ahead of time! Again warning you will be left starving! We tried to call the front desk and each time the system said “wait time is 60 minutes.” So we couldn’t get any help from ANYONE. We HAD to leave the property and rushed to a restaurant 40 minutes away from the property at 9 pm with starving kids. The room had no radio/alarm, no slippers, no instructions on how to get food delivered or alternatives. We were basically abandoned an on our own! Basically we checked out early and stayed with family nearby at an Airbnb Global Resort home. I wish we knew about these homes earlier. This is a property I will never visit again nor can I recommend for families of five with little ones under the age of 6. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
