Stayed here many times. Covid does not work well with them

Feb 9th, 2021

First my main complaint is they had SO MANY rules in place due to covid. I agree this is Disney and they want to keep it clean and not shut down but some things just seemed silly and cheapened the look of the hotel. My main complaint was the garbage. THERE WAS GARBAGE EVERYWHERE. which is so unlike Disney. Because not everything was open, many people chose to doordash or take food from the hotel to go. They give you all these giant boxes for your food and people would stick them outside their door or by outside garbage cans and it would still be there hours later. I am use to someone dropping a wrapper at a Disneyworld resort or property and it being picked up immediately. I overheard , whether true or not by the workers, that the younger college kids were the ones to go and the older ones were staying. They just seemed overworked and grumpy. We had a running joke with the other 3 families we were with, which one of us was going to get snipped at for something during the day (and we are not a roudy bunch). When we arrived we had a lot of luggage and there was no bell hop service (due to covid they said). Like I have read in other reviews, it was a huge pain. They had the bell hop luggage carts so we went and grabbed one ourselves and lugged it to the parking lot and all the way through the whole resort in which we finally get there only to have our mobile key not working. The buses were super disorganized. Everyone stands in a long line and you don;t know who is going where. So when an epcot shows up you dont know if you are one of 100 in line or the only ones so you have to ask and cut through people to get on the bus. They also only allowed a small number on the bus and it made no sense. We were there with 20 people total so some were nice and would let us all just get on together. Others would split us up and have us sitting next to random people. You would think they would prefer you sitting with your family. Just seemed overall disorganized after being there at least 4 other times. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I've got a lot to say.

Jan 22nd, 2021

I had such high expectations for this property given it was recommended by a close family member who has been coming here for years. Unfortunately it didn't even come close to living up to the hype. I suppose we shall start with the good, the very little that there was: - Hotel exterior is well maintained and beautiful! - The bed and sheets were incredibly comfortable. - Close proximity to the Magic Kingdom (walking trail is a bonus!) - Buses to Disney Springs and other Disney attractions Now sadly the bad... - Upon arrival, we were not greeted nor helped with our luggage. - Check in took a half hour at least. The items we saved on "app" didn't even matter. Our magic bands were not ready and had to be re-connected to the cards we had already added to the account. - There is a complete lack of signage across the entire property. Good luck finding ANYTHING. - The room has no door on the vanity area of the bathroom, so if traveling with a friend and not a spouse leaves you in the complete open. - The shower for lack of a better term was like a fire hydrant. - There is zero ventilation in the bathroom or vanity area - PLASTIC cups in the rooms, enjoy drinking your $30 bottle of rose (that's not even great) in a solo cup. - Buses ONLY go to parks, no other Disney properties (except Disney Springs) - Room service is practically non-existent unless you'd like breakfast from 6-11am or dinner from 5-10pm. (TIP: order directly from the café if you want the Mickey waffles, the cost is about 1/2 of what room service charges for the same thing) - ZERO healthy meal options - The "health club" portion is a joke. I've traveled the world and have seen better gyms in the cheapest of hotels in the tiniest of mountain towns. In addition, you're literally stuck on a compound. Nothing is walkable other than the Magic Kingdom. I'd suggest stopping for bottled water and snacks on the way in because you won't find anything on property. Overall, we're incredibly underwhelmed in many of ways. If I were staying during a "normal" time and had to pay what the "normal" rates were, I would have hands down left upon night 1. If we were staying for longer than 3 nights, I also would have left. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice but underwhelming.

Dec 15th, 2020

Our family stayed at the Disney's Grand Floridian in the Big Pine Key building on December 2020. While the Main Building is beautiful, the Big Pine Key building was just average. The lobby with its ceramic tile floor and furnishing gave me a feeling that I was in a Timeshare. The elevators had loose foot panels, worn out handrails, not what I expected to see at the Grand Floridian. I've stayed at the Disney's Contemporary Resort and the Disney's Wilderness Lodge and both had far more luxuries, amenities, nicer rooms and better maintained. Parking was a pain! Half of the front lot was reserved for the valet but there was no Valet parking available thus the reserved valet spaces was empty. The other half of the front lot was self-parking. This get's full about 7-8 PM and it's then blocked off. Even though cars leave and spaces are clearly visible, no entry is allowed. We had to park at Villas lot which is as far as you can walk without leaving the grounds. This is during COVID reduced capacity, I can't imagine how parking would be like at full capacity. The mobile check-in app did not work. The mobile app for ordering food worked sporadicly. During my stay, I kept saying, I can't believe how great the Grand Floridian looks from afar, and up close it's just average. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Birthday visit for Laila

Dec 6th, 2020

It was wonderful. The staff was great. We order in for dinner. The staff sent up balloons and a cupcake for my 6 year old granddaughters birthday. The bell hop who took our luggage out, his name gave awesome information on history of the first hotels there and the opening of Epcot. His name was Witt. Our views were of the castle and space mountain. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Checking bag moniter

Had a great dinner at The Grand Floridian. Getting on monorail a Very aggressive, old woman monitor, was yelling at people in front of us. I emptied my pocket book after hearing her demands of them. She said i put too much out into bin.She was definitely on a power trip. 7/27/20 at 7:30 pm!!!! Not the typical polite Disney employee. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
