Guests highly recommend resort's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show
Rooms can feel a bit dark at night due to their darker color schemes

Set on Walt Disney World's northwest side, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort features a South Pacific theme: Koi ponds are scattered throughout the grounds, and palm trees support hammocks (and reposing guests) along a stretch of the lagoon's beachfront. The long and narrow buildings have thatched roofs and torch-lit walkways, while the guest rooms are done up in brown and green hues. However, some recent guests comment that the decor makes guest rooms feel a bit dark at night. Meanwhile, other travelers aren't sure if this hotel is worth its high room rates. Still, most praise the Polynesian for its monorail station (which makes it a great home base for exploring the parks), as well as its popular Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. And travelers with kids say that the Lava Pool (complete with a 142-foot-long waterslide) is a big hit with the little ones. For a little more serenity, head to the Oasis Pool, which offers a more tranquil setting. And when you're ready to eat, venture to one of the resort's multiple dining establishments for a sit-down meal or a casual bite. You'll find this Disney resort in the Magic Kingdom area of Orlando, Florida.

This South Pacific–themed resort with its tropical backdrop of orchids, ferns, and palms, lies directly across the lagoon from the Magic Kingdom, on the monorail and water taxi routes, and has lots of kids activities, making it a good family choice. The resort underwent extensive renovations in 2015, including the volcano pool and slide and the Great Ceremonial House lobby, but the theme is unchanged, with plenty of drumming and chanting in the three-story atrium, and no lack of tropical drinks at the bar.

The 25-acre hotel, thickly planted and torch-lit by night, was one of the first two hotels planted here, back when the South Pacific tiki craze was still swinging, and the longhouse-style thatched-roof complex remains one of the most transporting of the Disney resorts. The most expensive rooms glimpse the Magic Kingdom across the Seven Seas Lagoon (there's an on-site monorail station for it), but most have greenery views.

Frommer's Exceptional

A lagoon anchors this 11-building complex that's just a monorail ride away from attractions. A Polynesian theme captures the warmth and beauty of the South Seas in deluxe studio rooms and bungalows.

The Polynesian Village Resort, a South Pacific-themed paradise, is also along the Monorail track. ... It features more than 800 rooms and suites, koi ponds and torch-lined walkways and beaches, all themed around the islands of Polynesia.

Part Neverland (totem poles and a Peter Pan kids' club) and part Hawaiian resort (nightly luaus and a Volcano Pool), the crowded ... Polynesian remains one of Disney's most popular Deluxe-category resorts for families, thanks to its especially large rooms that sleep five and ideal location on both the Monorail and the beaches of the Seven Seas Lagoon.
