Deluxe with Everything!

Aug 17th, 2019

Totally subject to personal opinion, but of the Deluxes I have stayed in, Yacht Club is my personal favorite. Why? It offers a great combination- great location to Epcot (my family’s favorite park) by foot, convenience to Hollywood Studios (my family’s second favorite park) by boat, access to the Boardwalk (fabulous morning cocktails or coffee drinks courtesy the bar in the Boardwalk Inn- if that’s your thing), access to the best pool on Disney property in Storm Along Bay and theming that feels rich and Disney-like without feeling over the top. During our stay, we had a garden view, which was peaceful and a couch that offered my son his own sleeping area. The rooms are well-laid out. Most have full balconies (unlike Beach Club). The bathroom offers a sliding door to section off the sink area which adds extra privacy, and the beds have been updated so that you can slide suitcases underneath. This gave us plenty of changing space and kept our room tidy while keeping our suitcases out of the way. The decor has a few nice nautical touches, like constellations on the curtains, that we enjoyed. I also highly recommend the Market at Ale and Compass. It is by far my favorite marketplace in Disney. If you are using Disney Dining, you can make a meal out of the snack credits- they offer delicious bites like curry chicken salad, tomato and mozzarella salad, shrimp cocktail and bakery items. There are also a few sandwiches and a wide array of bagged snacks. If you’re looking for something hardier though, the Beach Club Market is a short walk away because the lobby of the two resorts are connected. That’s another plus... Yacht and Beach Club are connected and share amenities. But have different personalities! I have no Cons for this resort except the decor is personal preference and it IS more subdued than Beach Club. The consensus seems to be that Beach Club is more fun and family-oriented. I agree that Beach Club feels more busy, but after a stimulating day at the park, my family prefers Yacht Club. Though we like both resorts! Tip: Get the park hopper if within budget when staying at this location. It really lends itself to hopping between Epcot and HS, and even monorailing to MK. Also- I recommend early breakfast at Les Halles in Epcot. It’s within walking distance, opens at 9, so 2 hours before the rest of the World Showcase and you in position to ride Frozen with little to no wait. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beautiful hotel

Aug 15th, 2019

Just completed a stay at this lovely hotel with our 3 children. Warm welcome on arrival and the staff on the desk were always so friendly and helpful. Lovely pools and room and great access to Epcot, HS & the Boardwalk - the only minor disappointment was the lack of Disney ‘magic’ - we have stayed at other (lower category)resorts and have enjoyed getting back to the room to see what had happened with the towels/pyjamas etc.. No extra touches this time! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Relaxing and lovely...

Aug 13th, 2019

This hotel is quite lovely - we had a basic garden room which was spotlessly clean and was very well furnished - fridge with no mini bar is always a plus for me! We spent a few days here to watch our grandchildren enjoy Disney for the first time. Everything is on the doorstep - Boardwalk and Epcot within walking distance. The kids loved the pools and lazy river and the lifeguards were very attentive. The staff go out of their way to make guests feel welcome and there's really nothing I can fault - a lovely place to stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice, but nothing special. VEGETARIANS read on

Aug 9th, 2019

OK - so we landed in Orlando after 2 weeks travelling along other East Coast cities. It was nice to be in a hotel environment with everything pretty much on one complex. The Yacht club was kitted out well, with it's onsite market place/shop. Good for breakfast on the 'hoof'. However, we only stumbled upon some nicer vegetarian places to eat on the last couple of days and after some really dire experiences at Disney restaurants. Turns out the Beach Club has an even nicer Marketplace on their site and they do make your own salads and flatbreads - great when you hit day 3 and worry you've consumed your whole year's worth of sugar. Warning! The quick service meals on the Disney Dining Plan are often not vegetarian and there are frequently no vegetarian kids meals on quick service or table service - be prepared to order off plan and ask for amendments if you have a veggie child or a fussy eater. The Ale and Compass restaurant at the Disney Yacht club serve breakfast and be warned THIS COMES OFF YOUR TABLE SERVICE QUOTA despite it being predominantly a buffet (we thought it was quick service as we did almost all of the work in serving ourselves.) The Ale and Compass vegetarian options - protein bowl - were weird. I don't know about anyone else but I didn't want to eat quinoa at 9.00am in the morning. Or broccoli. Or green beans. But that's just my preference. In fact there aren't many options for vegetarians anywhere in Disney unless you scour the menus and/or interrogate the concierge. Sometimes you have to watch the cheese they add to the dishes as they can be non-vegetarian and you also have to watch out for the fact that any child 10 or over is counted as an adult and so if they're vegetarian the dishes offered might not suit them as they can get pretty weird - so if you have a plain eating vegetarian who doesn't like an overload of vegetables then they will likely struggle. There seems to be a lack of understanding that sometimes we vegetarians do just want what the meat eaters have but without the meat e.g. substitute it please but still offer us the same (vegetarian) sides that the meat eaters get. If one child (classed as an adult at age 12) is receiving a basic pizza or chicken nugget and fries as their quick service option it's unlikely to go down well that the vegetarian child aged 10 (classed as an adult) has the only option of soggy vegetable wraps! The front desk staff were very helpful and kind. A big shout out to the lady who saved me after losing my daughter's tooth before the tooth fairy could come. She cheered my daughter up! The Yacht club itself has nice rooms and they're quite spacious. Word to the wise, if you have young-ish kids and it's your first time at Disney I wouldn't do what we did and let Virgin talk you into getting Universal tickets aswell as the Disney parks - more on that in another review. Loved Everything About it!

Aug 7th, 2019

This was a really great hotel for several reason, but most importantly traveling as a family of 5 we where able to all stay in one room. We where with 3 adult kids in their early 20’s and we had plenty of room. Our sleeping arrangements where a comfortable 2 queen size beds and one sofa twin bed, a large bathroom with toilet and shower partitioned off from the vanity (2 sinks) with a pocket door allowing for multiple users while having privacy for both. Our room had a nice sized furnished balcony for sitting, a large dresser for all our cloths, a desk with sitting area and a small coffee area. Daily Housekeeping would make fun Mickey shapes with towels, placed on our beds to entertain us upon our return to the room, as well as folding our personal blanket into butterflies. The rooms and hotel are very very clean and we had ample supply of shampoo and conditioner through out our stay we had no need to purchase any. The hotel has the greatest pool ever, too! It’s a sand bottom freshwater pool with a lazy river, and fantastic water slide that we all enjoyed. There is 3 small water falls and various depth that allowed for fun for all ages, and the lifeguards where very attentive. The staff was very polite and helpful with all our questions. The Beach Club resort is also connected to the Yacht Club with the pool in the middle of the two properties with access to both facilities/ restaurants. We loved that we could walk to Epcot (only about 5 minutes), or walk around the lake to the boardwalk shops and restaurants all very convenient. There is ferry service right from the back dock to Epcot, Hollywood studios or the boardwalk if you prefer not to walk. Right out front of the resort is the bus shuttle for easy transportation to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. The overall location was absolutely perfect for our family. I highly recommend this resort and will absolutely stay here again when I return to Disney. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
