Not bad if you get a good rate

Jul 17th, 2019

Overall: Construction note: the roads in front of the hotel are undergoing major construction. There are detours to get in and out of the hotel and they could have done a much better job letting guests know that the construction would require a special detour. An email prior to arrival would have been nice. They did text me and let me know about construction but it was not until after check-in which at that point was useless. Based on my overall experience, I would recommend this hotel if you can get a good deal on the nightly rate. I wouldn't necessarily pay full price, but it's a good accomodation if you get a special price. The hotel is a bit older but is generally well maintained. I would stay here again based on my overall experience. I did, however have a few hiccups along the way which I detail below. Parking is a bit backwards at this hotel as you have to check in first to get your room key in order to park. Also, if you use a digital key, you must get a physical key just to use the parking lot. I left my physical key in my room upon checkout and couldn't exit the parking garage. The 'operator' on the parking meter told me I had to return to the hotel and get a key (even though I had checked out already). Just not efficient and not logical. The doors are locked from 11-7 from the parking garage, even with a room key. I did like that they had Diamond member parking. Parking is quite expensive at $18 daily. Meaning if you go out of the side into the parking lot after 11pm, to get back into the hotel you must walk all the way around the building to the front of the hotel to get back in. This doesn't make sense because the parking lot door always requires a room key to gain access. Rooms: Rooms were overall well maintained. Bathrooms could be updated and showed light wear, but they were clean. The beds were not comfortable, however. The AC unit thermostat did not work in my room, or my coworker's rooms -- meaning that if the AC was running it would continuously run. Lobby/Restaurant: We ate several meals at the Hotel Restaurant Libations. The service was consistently good at the restaurant. The lunch and dinner foods that we ate were pretty good for a hotel restarant and the staff was consistently pleasant. Breakfast was quite good and although it didn't feature all of the options I've grown accustomed to at a DoubleTree, the made to order food (omlett) was delicious. I am a diamond member so breakfast was free - I do not know the normal cost. The floor in front of the bar and into the buffet area (for breakfast) really needs to be mopped as it's incredibly sticky to the point that walking on it you will "stick" to the floor after you leave. The Hilton app says breakfast is 6am-10am on the weekdays, however they do not open until 6:30am. Service: The employees were generally friendly and assisted when needed. I did experience a few 'odd' things by the service/housekeeping staff... one of the servicemen was riding the elevator up and down for about 10 minutes and kept 'accidentally' getting off on the wrong floor. I got the vibe he was trying to run out the clock on his shift. Housekeeping came one day and after this, I was in the room and had a knock on my door - it was housekeeping again. She quickly tried to get in the room after a single knock, and when I opened the door, she seemed startled. She was carrying sheets but my sheets had already been changed. She didn't speak english and begain to babble in another language and it felt as if I had caught her doing something that she wasn't supposed to be doing. I'm not sure what she would have been doing going up to my room after it had already been cleaned and then be unable to tell the guests why they were trying to open their door. If they cannot speak english they have no business being in a customer's hotel room alone. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place and location. Breakfast tho..

Jul 15th, 2019

For $160 a night, $19 a night for parking, you should get a complimentary breakfast, or at least not pay $17 for a buffet that consists of runny eggs and burnt bacon. Other than the breakfast? Absolutely no complaints. Great staff, clean room, can’t beat the location. I would stay here again but continue to go across the street to Starbucks for breakfast. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Not what we expected

Jul 6th, 2019

Hotel was clean enough, quiet, staff was friendly but this is clearly an older hotel. The AC was either very cold or very hot - middle of the night it got very hot, regardless of temperature setting. The housekeeper came Friday and Saturday mornings at 8:45am! The bathroom was very dated, tiled, and the shower curtain was torn and not long enough. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Just like family !

Jul 3rd, 2019

Anyone who stays here will be welcome as if family were to greet you at the front desk ! These ladies at the front desk are some of the best across the country when it comes to professionalism and the ultimate customer service . Kristin and Dina are the sweetest caring and just incredible making the guest at this great hotel feel welcomed. The property is equally as awesome. The rooms are comfortable clean and with great amenities. The gym is bright clean and well equipped. The pool is great for a nightly dip to cool off and relax. The hotel restaurant Libations is serving some home cooked food to include the slow cooked short ribs not to be missed and if you’re lucky you’ll be served by miss Ashley who brings her beautiful smile along with great customer service every time. You can be sure I will be back to this property because of the great people that make this Hilton Hotel one of my all time favorites to stay while in Charlotte. Thank you General Manager and the staff for making this stay very comfortable and memorable. Respectfully, Mr. J. López TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We spent the night here before we took a flight out in the early am. The hotel was clean and nice. Room was comfortable and clean. We would definitely spend the night here again. Check in staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking garage is right next to hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
