Very disappointed in how they represent themself

May 6th, 2020

This hotel is on the Seawall, so just across the street from the beach. The hotel is looking a bit tired, but rooms were comfortable. To be fair, I went during the 25% COVID restrictions. As such, when I made the reservation I specifically asked what restrictions were in place. They were quick to inform me that the capacity was 25%, the shuttle was not in service and the onsite restaurant closed. They DID tell me the pool was open, limited to 10 at a time; all other amenities open as published. A type of continental breakfast would available. This was NOT the case. We arrived >1 hour prior to 4pm check-in. We were told room was not ready and they could NOT store bags. For $25 we could possibly check-in early. At 3:30, THIRTY MINUTES before check-in, we are told our room is ready; pay $25 and come check-in. Ridiculous!!! Our ocean view reservation is overlooking the pool with obstructed ocean view. The pool was NOT open. Minimal prepackaged snacks were on a counter FOR AN INFLATED PRICE (like granola bars, oatmeal cups) along with loose apples out for anyone to touch? No bikes to borrow, No room service, No room cleaning during your stay, couldn't even get an additional bath towel or TP (when we ran out). Only ONE elevator working, on the far side (NOT central lobby one). Upon check-in, you are provided a lengthy letter of everythinbg they are NOT doing, not that they tell you any of this upon reservation. Again, I wouldn't be near as upset if they had been honest up front TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good location. Make sure bathroom shower is clean.

Lynn and her team were great. Everyone was nice and helpful. It was busy because of spring break. We asked for a roll-away bed but given a twin size air mattress because they ran out. The biggest complaint is that there was mold in the shower. Lots of it. It was on the tile and ceiling. I knew we wouldn't get another room because they were sold out so we had to deal with it. I brought it to the front desk at the end of the stay and they said thank you and they would take care of it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Started rough but ended nice

Mar 13th, 2020

Well we literally booked the day of to go down for a getaway. Wasn’t planning on going to Galveston but thanks to corona, things change. We booked due to last reviews and photos but looks can be alittle ugly. The pool area is nice and has a cool lunge bar area that’s a swim up bar however the water is freezing due to the weather and the pool is on the front side of the hotel in front of major road traffic. So if sound doesn’t bother u then go ahead. They rent out bikes for free and they also have a shuttle that goes around the island. We didn’t use either service. So here is the rough no one wears name tags the rep behind the counter had a nice face and greeting even offered a cookie. When I asked does it have nuts she said yes I said I have a major nut allergy. Her response really, and smiles. No I’m joking I carry an epi pen for fun. BTW Hilton maybe you should switch to nut free cookies so your rep doesn’t question why. Then it comes to check in. I asked for room on the 5th floor so said she has one but it’s $25 a night. I said can I see it. She said sure can have the key. As I’m up there I notice all rooms face the same way there is not rooms on the other side so EVERY room gets ocean/pool view. Down I go to ask her; so I thought the room was a suite and it has a sitting area but it’s a small room so what am I paying $25 a night for? I also asked her all rooms face the same way she said yes so again what am I paying $25 for? No answer I said it’s ok I’ll get the room you were going to give me. Well here is the best part all the sudden the room isn’t available. So my husband asked could you let us just go in the room she just saw and she said well I’m already waiting to get you guys in before 4:00pm check in and I can’t waive another $25 to get you to the fifth floor. I said when will our room be ready then. She said at 4:00pm so it’s around 2pm I just drove in and I’m tired fine we will wait. As we are hearing the lady next to us getting checked in to room 213 how in the world did she get checked in after me. That’s fine I’m not arguing with this rep she want pleasant. So it’s 4:52pm I show up to check in thank god that girl wasn’t there. I got a sweet long eye lash rep who was dealing with some lady yelling at her on the phone. I could hear her from where I was standing. 3 people behind me all listening and here comes the other rep to help her. I get the girl who was on the phone. Super sweet girl didn’t take the stress out from that call on me. Got me a nice room upper floor with beach view. Again don’t understand how the other girl was going to charge $25 a night and this one gave me the same view for FREE. so thank u rep with no name tag and pretty eye lash girl for making up for the other not so pleasant sales rep. Anyways hotel in general is good remember beach town, older hotel but the cleaning crew is everywhere. They clean a lot non stop. The rooms were so clean and the bathrooms. The cleaning crews manager was literally on the floor following in and out of the rooms checking. No one ever questioned how many towels I got and no one questioned my next bottle of shampoos. I hope the little tip I left for them made it to the cleaning crew. Also self parking is $10/night. No big deal it’s not like all the other places. The beach access is right across the street so just jay walk to the beach. The pleasure pier is within a mile walk and food is all up and down the street. Good location. Next time I may stay at Glavez hotel. It’s huge and chic inside. We had breakfast one morning there. The only reason I didn’t give this place a 4 star is cause of check in. I don’t give hotels 5 stars so that way u know why. This is a 3 1/2 star place. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great place to rest and have a good time!

Feb 28th, 2020

I was impressed with the customer services of the supervisor Maria. She could upgrade me to a beach front view room with a great balcony. I could enjoy the great view while having my morning coffee with my wife. We also enjoyed the fire pit the end of the day, while having a nice chat with my wife and having some drinks. Pity that we didn’t have s’mores 😢! We will definitely be coming back on the summer to jump in the gulf water and get some tan.😃 Keep up the good work double tree team! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Great stay!!

Feb 25th, 2020

Entry and lobby were updated and clean. Maria immediately helped us check in. She was super sweet and helpful with whatever we needed. Or room was clean and had a balcony. The interior of the room could used a coat of paint, but other than that, very comfortable. Ejay in the breakfast lounge was awesome. He was so accommodating to us. Also, the shuttle driver was pleasant. Violet, in the Long Board restaurant was accommodating to us as well. Overall, we were happy with our stay TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
