Absolutely Stunning Hotel

Oct 27th, 2019

I don't even know where to begin. I would say this hotel impressed me even more than the Waldorf Astoria & Conrad ranges did. The whole hotel is like a big Art Gallery. No matter where you go there is something interesting to look at and somewhere nice to sit and admire the stunning views over the Carvajal beach. It took me and my dad an hour and a half walking round the whole resort looking at everything and admiring the artwork. The Hotel lobby is wide and spacious, the corridors to the rooms are really well designed. the rooms themselves are extremely modern and have some really nice touches like the sliding shower/toilet door. The Infinity Bar is just incredible. I would say I spent 60% of my free time over the 3 nights here. The food up there is lovely, the same can be said for the MED restaurant, where I had the 3-course special dinner every night, I loved how It changed every night, which meant I was always wondering "what is going to be for dinner tonight?", some lovely Spanish options on the menu too! The Spa looked incredible, but I did use the gym a few times and it is without a doubt the nicest gym I have ever used. It is huge and has everything you could need, as well as personal trainers available if you need any assistance. I was actually able to hit some PBs in the gym on holiday. I never even thought I’d use the gym on holiday, built I couldn't resist trying this one out. As amazing as the hotel is, the most impressive thing was the staff. They were all lovely, from Victor, David & Mauri across the Infinity/Austin Bars, to Oscar & Mitchell in the MED restaurant, and even Christina at reception who was very helpful during checkout. Please, please give them my thanks as it was due to their ability to make us feel so welcome that we enjoyed this hotel so much. We were offered to attend a "management cocktail", where were able to sample Tapas and cava, which we discussed with the Front office & Spa managers what we thought about the hotel and where they could improve. This was a real nice touch. The hotel also offers a great shuttle bus service to the beach, the supermarket & the train station. The only thing I could suggest to the hotel is give the option to buy a simple cheap ice cream somewhere, as well as the option to have the expensive fancy ice cream at the infinity pool bar. I have absolutely no doubt I will be back at this fabulous hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very disappointed

Oct 23rd, 2019

We booked to stay here to visit with a friend over from UK. We found the place OK but couldn't find anywhere to park but in taxi rank. Went to go into hotel but could not see way in, saw a lovely semi circle of glass but no obvious door. Someone told us where door was. Booking in was ok, we were given number for car park as cars on taxi rank get towed away. I asked if there was anywhere I could charge my wheelchair, and we were given the disabled friendly room. Also as I had said we had just come back from Hilton at Luxor where we celebrated our silver wedding anniversary, I was told there would be something special left in room for us. We were given key and directed to room. Only we get through glass doors as told and all we see are white doors with no obvious numbers. The numbers are etched out at bottom corner of door, not the most obvious place to look. Then we managed to get me in chair into room, just it was tight and the spring on door strong so hubby and I were struggling. Once in the room my first thought was where can I put my chair or turn it around as the space was so limited. Eventually we managed to reverse it back beside edge of bar over fridge, which meant you couldn't get to wardrobe without climbing over 1 of the beds and then could only open 1 door. Next problem was having to clear shelf below rail in wardrobe so you could hang a shirt, anything else was to long. Even though there was room higher up to fix the rail, more bad design. We went up to infinity pool and had lovely lunch, just a shame so much building going on around, with no thought into making roads big enough for the amount of traffic, never mind all works lorries. We then went out, on our return we had a bottle of cava and small box of chocolates left for us. This made me feel very special until at breakfast I saw lots of bottles of cava for anyone to enjoy. Breakfast for someone in a wheelchair is impossible as you can't reach the juice, bread or hot drinks. Then the bread and toaster are in 1 area but butter and jam in separate areas of buffet room. Do you not think it would be better to have them all together? The disabled toilet on this floor is also useless as door not wide enough to get chair in, so I didn't even get in to look. Back in our room I got my husband to try getting the chair into the bathroom as I was afraid of damaging my chair or room. It was virtually impossible, you cannot do 90 degree turns in a wheelchair. There was also only 1 call button, which if you had long arms you could reach from the toilet, but if you fell in the shower then unless you could crawl a few feet...... The car park had very poor signs as to how to get into hotel and I was going forward and backwards so that my husband could open the doors. I did make the management aware of my concerns, but they thought a plate of fruit, bottle of water and voucher for 2 free drinks would solve the issue. I have a strong feeling that nothing will get done about my complaints which is a shame as it means I'm unlikely to return to this hotel when we visit the area again. I also feel that the management might have been wise to actually take advantage of a real disability expert, as it is I have been telling everyone on social media about my stressful trip. Great week getaway!

Oct 18th, 2019

Stayed here for 6 days/5 nights and its been the most incredible stay! When we arrived the reception team were so lovely and upgraded us. Our room was nice, super clean - had the most amazing shower, bath and balcony. Its a different layout so the rooms are very open plan which was fine for us. However, if I was with a friend I am not sure how that would be! The roof top pool is amazing and somewhere we spent a lot of our time - they give you towels so no need to bring with you. We ate in the main hotel restaurant most nights as we tended to go out for lunch. The food was amazing - they also do a set menu that changes every night for 27euros. Don’t be put off if the restaurant is quiet as the food makes up for it! I must say every team member we spoke with was super friendly and helpful. A great set of staff! As with a lot of the reviews there is building work as the area is up and coming. To be honest, we barely even heard or noticed it and did not bother us. If you want to notice it your notice it! The hotel is also building a new wing of rooms - they are getting bigger! All in all, its been a fab week and I would come back!! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A good hotel made look better with refurbish but...

Oct 14th, 2019

We have stayed that this hotel before the refurbishing and change to a Curio Collection by Hilton so on our recent stay we were pleasantly surprised with the refurbishment of the reception, med restaurant and bar, and pool area. This it is now an airy area with plenty of seating, trees, shrubs and plants. Although there are a new members of staff , there remains some of the 'original' ones and all are very helpful and friendly. A special 'shout out' to Alex and Juan the shuttle drivers with their prompt and engaging service, "felt like having one's own personal driver". I suppose I ought to say why not five stars, mainly this is because the room allocated in the 'old block' felt tired and in need of some TLC, especially some general maintenance of the shower and toilet doors not being able to fully be closed as they required 'rehanging' also the hand basin waste plug could not be closed so even partial filling of the basin was not possible. I also agree with other reviewers that there is much building and construction work in and surrounding the hotel, thus there is significant noise pollution but if one goes 'out and about' during the day it is avoidable. (However, not exactly a great morning alarm!) Having stated some minor negatives, without any question we will be returning in 2020 TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Don't go if you have a family. Infinity pool is only 16+.

Oct 13th, 2019

Don't go if you have a family. Do not take the duplex suite. The infinity pool is 16 and up and in our case was booked from 14:00 and we would not have been able to use it anyway. This appears to be a frequent issue. Lots of construction going on.So views kind of blow. There was also a party going on so it was quite loud. Gym was a big plus though. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
