Equivalent of a roadside motel with doors & windows to the street

I know doubletree is one of Hilton’s value brands but, I have stayed at many of them & this one is very poor....yes, doubletrees are typically older properties where Hilton has performed a “spruce-up,” but they just put lipstick on a true pig here. Walls are paper thin & heard my neighbor all night in in multiple rooms. The room has a 20-30 year old window HVAC unit that will also keep you up all night of limit your ability to talk to family or hear the TV at a reasonable volume. You’ll also quickly notice that vintage of this old room & property the longer you sit in bed & look around. I can’t see how any of the rooms are any better. The place is poor. Don’t be fooled. If your going to save 20-30/nt, not worth the savings; buyers remorse...next TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Recently renovated convenient to everything

Mar 14th, 2020

The recently renovated rooms were a pleasure and my 10th floor room had a decent view of the beach. The restaurant and bar were great though it's only a short walk or drive to the Va Beach area where restaurants are plentiful. The area around the hotel is the usual paved over parking lot/roads (free parking) but they do a good job of making the hotel experience a quiet and serene one. Very much worth the price. Enjoyable

I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this location to my family and friends. Location was clean, and the staff was pleasant. The beds and pillows were very soft and comfortable. Truly worth stopping through, and having a stay. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I Double Dare you to stay at this Double Tree.

Efficient, clean, relaxing and friendly. I stayed here for three nights and it was great. Check-in and check-out was easy, the rooms were spacious and airy. You could sometimes here people in nearby rooms, but this place actually allows you to set your thermostat, so I put on the room fan and it effectively, masked any noise and allowed for a great nights rest. The bathrooms were some of the nicest I have seen in this style hotel. The shower was a walk-in shower (no tub) and was clean and spacious. The toilet was very quiet when it flushed. The gym downstairs was decent. It has two treadmills, two ellipticals, a recumbent bike, some free weights and a nautilus-like weight system. It was easy to get a well rounded and quick workout as it was open 24 hours. They also have a pull next to the gym, but as I did not use it, I have no comments. Free Parking was available on site. They also have a small market area where you can purchase water, juice, some snacks and toiletries. One of the nicer features of this hotel was the room service and restaurant (Max and Ermas) on site. I ordered room service three nights in a row and had the Santa Fe chicken salad and herb glazed salmon, bot of which I highly recommend. The wine and drink selection is decent, and the deserts were tasty. Prices for meals range from $11 (salad) to $18.75 (salmon). Tip is included in the bill if you order room service. If I head back to Oceana, I will definitely come back! Enjoy! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I have had better stays

Feb 17th, 2020

The location of the hotel was great and easy to get to. Sadly, we were not informed upon booking that there was construction happening at the hotel. Nor were we told when we checked in despite the fact the construction was the immediate floor and room above our room. Our first night they were still working at 9:30 PM and began before 8 the next morning. On our second night, they closed the pool half an hour early stating the chlorine levels were off. Was half an hour really going to make a difference? There was also grease on the shower curtain - rather unappealing. If you like a crazy frim bed, you will sleep comfortably. However, 2 double beds is not conducive to 2 adults and and a pre-teen and a teenager to sleep comfortably. I hope the construction involves upgrading to queen size beds. Overall, not the worst stay, but definitely could have been much better. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
