This was a last minute booking due a mix up with another booking. Wasn’t expecting too much from the other reviews and when we arrived and got checked in we pretty much got what was expected. A small room that was very outdated and a bad lingering smell. Location was ok, about a $10 uber to the city. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Sketchy at best

Old place that needs updating-only positive was the cost of the room. I made the mistake of closing the bathroom door when I went to bed & when I woke up the next morning it was freezing (like 30 degrees) in the bathroom cause it didn’t have heat! Beds sucked & the sheets were stained. I fully expected to see chalk outline of a dead person in the room! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Wow, what a step back in time! I thought it was close enough to the nicer part of town to be okay, but nope. It looks like a set from a 1970’s movie. Look at the mural on my wall (pic attached). I can do kitch, but this is more “WTF?!” Country music memorabilia in the lobby is something you might expect from stars from the past that may have stayed here decades ago. But the signed headshots on the walls are old and sun faded and is a metaphor for this poor, sad little place. I could talk about the mold on the shower curtain or other grossness, but the worst of it is just how melancholy this place is. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Overpriced Smokey rooms

Asked for nonsmoking room. Got in first room and stunk like smoke. Asked for another smoke free room and was assured both rooms were smoke free. Well the 2nd room also smelled of smoke and had an ashtray! Not a safe location either. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
It's 1965 again, where's Dolly?

On the spur of the moment I decided to come to Nashville to view the total solar eclipse and made a last minute reservation at the Drake. Nearly everything in Nashville and all the surrounding areas was either completely booked or ridiculously priced at $500-$2000 per night and so I had very few realistic choices. The Drake Inn is an older property dating from the late 40s or possibly early 50s and not much had seemingly changed here. By curious coincidence, I had stayed here in the mid 60s as a child and remembered the place fondly. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived to find a clean and comfortable room. The only thing missing here were some much younger Dolly, Loretta or Patsy lounging by the pool. I want to emphasize that if anyone is expecting the Ritz Carlton then he or she will be exceedingly disappointed as this is a relatively Spartan and basic motel. On the plus side, it had a refrigerator, a comfortable bed with crisp, white well laundered sheets and pillowcases, good pillows and nice soft fluffy towels in the bathroom. The neighborhood, though on the dicey side, seems on the verge of an upswing towards gentrification. So if you're looking for a bit of nostalgia on the cheap this would be a good place to stay.
