Traveling through and stopped in Santa Cruz and stayed at The Dream Inn. It was a great stop! Hotel staff was great. Hotel very clean and safe. Rooms over look the Pacific Ocean. We enjoyed every minute of the stay and will be back to visit them again real soon! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Beachfront hotel with spectacular views and awesome location to pier and boardwalk. Rooms are cheerful and clean. However, they're a little tired. Pool was small and crowded. Beach is very accessible and nice. We paid about $230/night, an amazing deal IMO. However, if I had paid rack rate of $300+, I would be disappointed because rooms do not reflect that luxury price point. Overall, staff was helpful, EXCEPT for this - before arrival, I called front desk to confirm we could get late checkout to 12pm so that my kids could finish their online class. I was assured this would not be a problem. The morning of checkout, when asking Omar at front desk for late checkout, he very firmly declined the request even after explaining my previous confirmation that this would not be a problem. I really had to advocate with him that this needed to be reconsidered given the circumstances. He eventually agreed to talk to the manager about my request but said there could be a late checkout charge of $150. He then left a message with the manager and called me when he heard back to let me know that I was approved for noon checkout without fee. This ended well but created a lot of unnecessary stress for me while I was waiting to hear back. This was a bad way to end my stay at the hotel. Also, on Mon (10/5). when asked for beach chairs that were listed as an amenity on the downloadable guest flyer, we were told that none were available. I find this hard to believe since Mon was empty on the beach. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

I love Santa Cruz and had heard good things about Dream Inn. Unfortunately, we had a horrible experience. It's way overpriced and overrated. For $500+ per night, I expect a lot more. The only thing going for it is the location. The hotel itself is dirty, disorganized, and unsafe. The pool was crowded and dirty. The shower in our room only delivered scalding hot water. The water never adjusted to a colder temperature. My unknowing 8 year old son burned himself quite badly. When we complained to the front desk and informed them of this issue, they promised that the GM would contact us. We never received a call or any kind of follow up. I do not recommend this place. Total confusion Overrated and Over Priced.

For the amount you pay for this hotel you're getting horrible service not well-maintained rooms and hidden costs. $32 for two small cocktails and when you check in they don't tell you nothing about parking they just charge it after. Also they didn't get rooms ready by four so they ended up giving us a $50 credit which they still charged us for everything and never gave us the credit. They said that you can't use it on parking which they told us you can. This hotel is definitely overrated. The pool was overcrowded nobody wearing masks anywhere walking around the pool. So long to check in to the hotel and to get food in the morning. Crowded with no sense of social distancing. And homeless people sleeping below the balconies on the beach but thats not the hotels fault. The good parts with the hotel is its clean and the view was a beautiful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
DO NOT BOOK HERE!

DO NOT BOOK HERE! I just drove 4 hours with my family and did online contactless check in only to find out upon arrival that they didn't have rooms available at 4:30 (when check in is 4:00). Front desk staff could not tell me when a room would become available, would not store our luggage and said the pool was full so we couldn't wait there. There was literally a line of 30 people waiting to check in behind me. For $450 a night I expect my room ready upon arrival. This hotel is clearly overbooking and my trip to Santa Cruz ended in my children in tears and a 4 hour trip in traffic back home. Get it together Dream Inn, your guests deserve to at least have a room upon arrival. Unacceptable. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
