Perfect Location for Travelers

Like all Drury Hotels, this one is very new and clean, with a friendly and accommodating staff. The free happy hour every evening is a nice treat, and the free breakfast is standard fare for such. What really makes this hotel for me is the location - a very nice outdoor shopping mall is just across the street, with at least 10 restaurants, a wine bar and a beer bar with 120 or so beers on tap all within a 2 or 3 minute walk from the hotel. Great choice. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Typical Drury Experience
Aug 18th, 2020
We stayed here when passing through the area, and since we have enjoyed previous stays at Drury Hotels, we decided to add an extra two hours to our trip and stay here. Was it worth the drive? Most definitely, it was! The hospitality was fantastic again, and despite being an extremely stressful night for them (severe weather hit Iowa shortly before — was relatively busy), everyone was extremely friendly. This hotel was busy that night, and at certain times, there were over 10 people at the front desk. The internet was down that night, and instead of acting like nothing was wrong, they informed each guest of the issue and that they were trying to fix it. Very good! We chose the two queen oversized suite, and I was shocked by the amount of space in the room. It seemed like it was the size of three or four standard rooms! Not only was the suite spacious, the cleanliness was perfect. It was so clean that there were no stains, hair, or crumbs in sight — even in the back corners — and the door frames and pictures above the beds were completely free of dust. Our white socks did not turn dark at all, not even slightly. Very few properties are this immaculate, and I felt so comfortable staying here. The evening reception and breakfast were exactly what I expected. The nightly meal had chicken fingers (not those like the other Drury Hotels I’ve evaluated), pasta, soup and salad. Breakfast consisted of biscuits/gravy, scrambled eggs, sausage, and potato wedges. At this time, it is served by the employees, which I am completely satisfied with. Although there is so much to like about this place, I have two small complaints: 1) That morning, one of the two elevators was broken, leaving the entire property with only one. To make matters worse, the staff used them and took up much available space. This could be much easier if they installed a service elevator. We often found it quicker to take stairs (even being on the 6th floor!). 2) A housekeeper was not wearing a mask and used the elevator with other guests (twice that we saw). This is unacceptable during COVID. Everyone else complied with the policy. The hotel is 10+ years old, but it still has the feel of a brand new Drury, and it is beautifully maintained. After doing research, the only property I found to be cheaper was a low-budget motel that earned poor reviews, so it definitely fits the bill. We will continue staying at Drury Hotels and highly recommend staying here. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Not like the others...

We usually stay at any Drury in the area when traveling. Check in was fast and room was clean. I could not get over the lack of water pressure in the shower. It’s always good to start the day with a hot shower but with no water pressure it was dreadful. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
WE LOVE DRURY INN & SUITES

My wife and I discovered the Drury Inn chain of hotels a few years ago after being disappointed with our go to hotel chain for many years. This Drury was a very nice hotel with a great staff, breakfast and the afternoon perk is so nice. Would definitely stay here again. Let me add that they are very pet friendly, we were traveling with our cat and had no problem. This was before the Covid shutdown. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Nice hotel but cleaning is not good
Jul 13th, 2020
We stayed with our daughters softball team, twice, back to back weekends. Read until the end-never heard of something like this! First, The lobby/sitting area is nice and roomy. The rooms are standard. No little soaps, face wipes or lotions that I don’t pack because they are usually provided. The pool was nice, but very little room to sit around. Hotel cleaning service doesn’t come daily, because of COVID. Which is understandable, but you would think they would shift cleaning to the common areas. The elevator was covered in yuck, common sitting areas and breakfast/dinner areas were never cleaned-tables covered in crumbs and spills. The hotel does provided a light, warm breakfast in the mornings and a light meal. Same breakfast every morning, meals at night alternate from taco and pasta One of the families we were with found a DIRTY SOILED woman’s panties on the hair dyer rack (under the sink) and cowboy boot in the closet. The family was moved rooms and given a discounted stay for the one night. Another family in the team was given that room. Guess what?! Dirty painted were still there, as were the cowboy boots!! They didn’t bother to clean or remove the panties before they gave it to the next person!! That made me and the rest of the group wonder if they had even cleaned our rooms!! Parties in the hair dyer is a perfect example of things that should be wiped down between guest, especially during Covid. We travel to Des Moines several times each year for tournaments, booking 10-15 room for our group each time. We will not be booking here again. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
