We made the right choice staying here

Jul 7th, 2019

I'm really glad we chose to stay here. The rooms are pretty basic but clean and the bed in our room was extremely comfortable. The air conditioning was more than adequate and the wifi was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly and one day my husband and I were going to Santa Monica and the staff gave us a ride for free! The on site restaurant is lovely and very reasonably priced, again with great staff and service. The location is awesome, a short walk from Hollywood Blvd. I would definitely stay here again. Decent Hotel, Great Location

Jul 2nd, 2019

I selected Dunes Inn Sunset because the ratings weren’t bad and the location was perfect for our needs. The external view of the hotel does not give it any justice. While it is a dated hotel and does not have any modern attributes, we felt very comfortable. The check-in process was simple and the rep was professional. It is a very small check-in area, so we did have to wait in a line before we could get checked in; however, the check-in process itself was straight to the point. The room was decent and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was aesthetically pleasing, and the shower had great pressure and maintained its temperature. The room looked clean enough, and we did not have any issues until the night before we checked out we saw a bug on one of the pillows. Dunes is also on a main street so it was not very quiet, but it did not hamper our stay there. The location is absolutely perfect for moving around within the Hollywood area, and there is a parking lot with free parking. It is within a couple minutes drive to Wall of Fame, Chinese theater, Hollywood Boulevard, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Dolby Theater, and lots of other activities. If you are looking for a five star type of hotel, you would not enjoy staying at Dunes; however, if you have an open mind and willing to accept it for what it offers, you should have an enjoyable stay. Wouldn't stay again but bed was comfortable and clean

Jun 6th, 2019

It's a Motel on a nothing to look at street, namely Sunset Blvd. It feels a bit unsafe but its just the feeling I got. When you check in the staff are behind glass! There is a hair dryer, shampoo and body lotion and some soap. The towel were average. NO tea/coffee, good size TV, good shower, wifi and good bed comfort. Very basic feeling with no facilities or food. You can hear toilets flushing and road noise but I was right near the office. No lasting impressions here i'm afraid. I kind of felt if someone banged on the door I would be terrified, but again probably safe? TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Cheap and clean place to stay in Hollywood area.

Jun 4th, 2019

Wanted a place to stay for one night as had tix to the Greek Theater. This was ideally located and reasonably priced so took a chance. Was pleasantly surprised as the room exceeded expectations. Free off-street parking right outside your room is a breeze. Obviously been refurbished not too long ago, was comfortable and very clean. Beds comfy, bathroom good, wi-fi works fine, good size fridge that actually keeps things cold. Was on ground floor and was not bothered by road noise. Could hear upstairs guests leaving but was thankfully brief. Dreams cafe on the premises was the perfect place to grab a bite to eat without having to venture out. Will stay here again. No complaints although the neighborhood is not somewhere you'd want to roam around at night. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The inn is situated in a rundown part of Hollywood. For instance, there was a homeless man living on the nextdoor parking lot. Despite this the inn itself felt very safe. There’s a bus stop right outside and the bus can take you further along the Sunset boulevard. Nothing much happens on this part of Sunset though. Instead you need to hop off the bus and walk north a few blocks to get to Hollywood boulevard. If you prefer the metro there is a stop on Hollywood a short walk north east of the inn. Buy a tap card in the machine at the station. The tap card is valid for both the metro and the metro buses (one of the buses that passes by the inn). Parking is free at the inn and we had no issues finding an empty lot. Just make sure to register your car at the front desk while checking in. We saw a car that had received a ticket. Our room had a queen bed and was at the upper floor just by the stairs. The room had poor passive ventilation and you had to turn on the roaring AC as soon as you walked in the door. The bed was a bit too soft but I slept well nevertheless (even though I woke up with a sore back). The door is paper thin and you will hear practically everything that goes on outside. The walls are quite sound proof though. Our room was equipped with a fridge, hairdryer, tv and a tub. No safe. The sink is outside the toilet (in the main area of your room). The furniture feels dated and dark. The floor is carpeted and for some reason it discoloured our socks - either because it was dirty or because of the actual fabric. There’s a café/bar on the property where you can buy delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner. Staff is friendly. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
