Clean, up to date, friendly staff - perfect for Javits center conferences

Jan 17th, 2020

Very friendly front of house staff, clean rooms, nice touches include light workout gear in rooms. Highly recommend. Walking distance to Penn subway station - near Madison Square Gardens - expect the usual NYC cast of characters when walking back to hotel but...it is two doors down from the Police Precinct so our stay was trouble free! Expensive halls of residence.

Jan 16th, 2020

The first thing you notice about this hotel is the lack of a reception area. Instead, the couple of staff on duty at any time stand at a small pod in the entrance hall, clad in tracksuits. The minimalist design is also an indicator of how much customer service matters at this hotel. The reception are is like an office building. The welcome we received was far from warm and friendly. It was more like arriving at a multi storey car park than a hotel. If you’re familiar with hotels anywhere in the world you will notice immediately the lack of staff on duty here. The most positive thing I can say is that it is immaculately clean. It just doesn’t feel like a hotel, and not in a homely way. It feels very much like student accommodation or a budget backpacking hostel, except you’re paying full hotel prices to stay here. It’s basic, impersonal and characterless. Arriving at the hotel late at night was a huge disappointment. The rooms are small and have a huge inflatable exercise ball right in the middle of the floor. This will be a pain for the duration of your stay. The exercise equipment in each room looks and feels like a gimmick. Not one other guest we spoke to used it during their stay. There are no comfortable public areas to sit and relax. The very basic bar/cafe is seldom staffed and is very uncomfortable and again feels like a very small university or office cafe. The footprint of the hotel is very small, meaning that every room is right at the elevator so you will constantly have the sounds of people coming and going outside your door. There are ice/water machines on some floors. The ice machines never worked for the duration of our stay. The location is not very appealing either. The street outside is full of loading bays, trucks and police vehicles due to the precinct a few yards away. At least it feels safe. We booked this hotel based on the high ratings on TripAdvisor but can only assume that the people who left these reviews have never stayed in a real hotel before. In summary, it’s basic student level accommodation at plush hotel prices, with little or no customer service. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Weekend in NY

Jan 12th, 2020

Had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Early check in, late check out, great shower, sparkling rooms and comfy beds. This hotel is everything you want. With a focus on wellness and a healthy stay (yoga mats/equip and 10 Chanel’s devoted to exercise in your room)... definitely stay here! Fantastic hotel. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Nice rooms, shoddy service

Jan 12th, 2020

I am an IHG platinum elite member but this (on top of a few other underwhelming IHG experiences) reminds me why there's no point in maintaining status with IHG. The rooms are big for NYC and come with yoga mat for your use. But front desk was unfriendly and unsmiling at check in. No room service. You call ahead at the hotel restaurant to order, but they are very slow to respond and the pickup time exceeds the 20 minutes promised on the in-room menu, so you're not saving any time. Go outside to get food instead. This is Manhattan after all. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Very modern Hotel

Jan 8th, 2020

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel because it has quite big rooms for New York. It's very modern, clean and comfortable. It feels homy. Beds are comfortable and linens and pillows are of a very good quality. You have a little place for descent work out in the room. Staff is very professional, polite, friendly and helpful. Try to book on the upper floors (total of 25), otherwise you can hear noise from the street. This hotel offers you free water re-fills. The hotel has a lounge, bar, restaurant, play room and gym.
