You Have To Return - A Place that Constantly Needs to be Seen to be Believed!

May 17th, 2019

Yes, I write this review thinking this place is a bit like what HM the Queen once said of herself. I've recently returned from another relaxing holiday in the best position in the grounds - cottage 16! Try to imagine this hotel as one that has evolved within a botanical garden, a garden which, I feel, the govt of St Lucia should protect, if such system exists. I won't recount what all other reviewers cover, which things are all true. I would point out that the staff make this hotel : they are mostly, long servers, and their positive attitude in their jobs rubs on the guests, I must make mention of the wonderful "Aunty" Paula at breakfast, who kindly saw to it that I received both the best Eggs Benedict I've had in a long time; and the first of the new season's mangoes. With her, you only have to obliquely hint at something, and it is done! Miriam too, I'd like to mention. Also, the very witty "genius" that is Junias. And greetings last but not least to "Good Vibes" Siméon. This place has slowly evolved to take its position as one of the most distinctively understated hotels in the Caribbean. You tend to feel that it is almost a home away from home. Isn't that the best definition of a fine hotel? Improvements since last time: wifi, beach service, spa (hello, Theresa), dinner quality. Issues: low basin tap water pressure. No turn down service. Restaurant furniture need a refurb. There are too many tables (and some are really small) for the average number of diners; and for lunch, there is too much a cafeteria feel. Informality is one thing, but at these hotel prices, esp in season, it can't work long term. Expressed here in the spirit of ongoing improvement, i.e. onwards & upwards! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Peaceful Paradise

May 10th, 2019

We were so curious about what East Winds offer that contributed to such a high review score across the board while we were anxiously looking forward to our stay. The resort is on the north side of the island hence you will be spending some time in the car if you are arriving from the Vieux Fort International airport. When you arrive, however, checking in is like a breeze as the receptionist arranged our luggage to be taken to our cottage right away and greeted us by our names as they were expecting us to arrive. We stayed at the Deluxe Cottage with double sinks in the bathroom and a sunken shower. The toiletries are Molton Brown, and the sinks are made of beautiful local art, love it! The room offers everything you need, robes, sitting area & working desk (if you are the unlucky few who has to work through your stay). Most importantly, we had a great patio space with fridge, tea & coffee. We were able to over look the resort ground while sipping on some coffee/tea in the morning. It's a very lovely experience! Makes you feel that the time has stopped. You will also find a very special sketchbook in your room that guides you to recognize all the plantations on site - look for "East Winds Nature Guide" on your desk. Now the food is another element to brag about. I was extremely hungry when I arrived due to traveling and was worrying about having already passed lunch hours as we got to the resort past 3pm. Happy to find out that the restaurant offers light fare between lunch and dinner hours. I ordered two items due to the menu name "light fare", the portion is great actually it is like a normal lunch portion with a huge side. It was the best spring rolls I had in my entire life and I have finished both of my lunch items 30 mins in. Dinner was beautifully arranged and my bf cannot get enough of the kingfish! Service, aside from being friendly and warm, everyone was very organized and efficient. Loved the Yoga Pavillion. You can go to practice anytime. There is also a self-service pool bar at the pool, where I learned from one guest on how to make a rum punch, and then I made two for two other guests lol. You will love your stay at East Winds! Wonderful staff who are attentive and kind, beautiful cottages and grounds. The food was absolutely delicious (and I’m picky). Thanks go to chef Tom! He’s an incredible chef. Very relaxing and just a fantastic experience overall. I could go on and on, but read the other reviews..I agree with them (at least the 5 star reviews!). If you are thinking of staying here for a very relaxing beach vacation and want to feel pampered this is the place! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A special place

May 2nd, 2019

Stunning location with great cottages a really special place. It really is paradise and the gardens attract so many birds. We saw more hummingbirds here than we saw in the heart of the rainforest. The staff here cannot do enough for you and soon get to know your preferences whether that be your favourite cocktail or how you like your eggs. Everyone is really friendly. If you want to try some non-motorised water sports someone is on hand to give you a lesson and some advise before you take to the sea. If I had to give a negative then it would be on one night we were there some dogs were barking in the middle of the night in a property up on the hill. However this did nothing to spoil our holiday and we will be back again when we have saved up our pennies. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
