Property Needs Remodeled

Dec 21st, 2019

We booked one free night with our points. The young lady who checked us in was nice. The room was run down...holes in the cushion of the sleeper sofa, paint worn on walls, bed spread and sheets worn because of age and stains on ironing board surface. The small table was wedged in the corner next to the air had to pull the table out to get one of the chairs around the air unit. The positive part was it was clean, the tv and flooring looked newer. I looked online to see what the normal price would have been and it was $70 with fees...I would have never paid that for the quality of our room. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Another Hurricane Dorian Evacuee

Sep 11th, 2019

By the time I got to Valdosta, I was exhausted. Traveling solo with a small dog, I was looking for any place that would accept pets. After pulling into a parking lot to review my options, I called the Econo Lodge. The gentleman who answered was very helpful and gave me directions. He told me there were two motels that shared a driveway so I should be careful to look for the Econo Lodge. Well, tired as I was I ended up at the Sleep Inn, only discovering my error when someone mentioned the name of the motel at the registration desk. Back in the car, across the parking lot to check in. Mr. Kennedy was very kind and had already gone up to turn on the a/c and lights in my room. The room was clean and well lit and provided us with a great night's rest. The only complaint was the condition of the driveway -- a huge pothole was in the middle. Breakfast was offered, but I didn't take advantage of it as I was eager to get on the road to our final destination. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

A Port in the Storm

Sep 10th, 2019

We were fleeing Florida because of the hurricane that was forecasted to hit along the coast. At the time Dorian was predicted to be a category 4/5 storm which was currently devastating the Bahamas. The Econo Lodge was our Port in the Storm for three nights while we waited to see what would happen. The staff was very friendly and made us feel like family. The facilities were fine and the breakfasts were adequate. The location was awesome with many restaurant choices and activities nearby. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Clean, Convenient, Affordable

Sep 7th, 2019

THE STAFF WAS EXCELLENT!! Every single person with whom we had contact was professional, polite, personable, helpful, and could not have treated us any better. I booked our reservations on August 28 in anticipation of evacuating our home (near Daytona) with the approach of Hurricane Dorian. We booked two rooms – the other for my elderly parents. With a predicted possible storm surge of as much as 20 feet, their home could have been badly flooded, and with both of them having mobility problems and medical issues, we had to get them to a safe location. Not knowing how far inland the storm would affect Floridians, we chose to go to Valdosta. From the time I booked the reservation online, to my phone call with Sandy the Manager the following day (to extend the reservation due to storm changes), to our check-in and check-out, the staff was outstanding and compassionate to us and our situation. Everyone made us feel like family (we were there five nights because the storm kept changing!). I have no idea what kind of salaries they make, but they all should get a raise if this is how they treat all your guests! Because of all the evacuations, they were extremely busy, constantly on the phone, yet immediately responsive to any question or request, in spite of the needs of a sell-out crowd. Aside from the outstanding customer service, the rooms were spotlessly clean (we are extremely fussy about that). The complimentary breakfast was very adequate compared to many chain hotels we have used in the past. In fact, we stayed in one franchise EconoLodge in Wyoming a few years back that was so bad corporate refunded our charges. The place looked like a crime scene! This location is convenient, clean, and comfortable. I know that EconoLodge is a “budget” chain, but the convenient location and attentive staff knocked it out of the park for us. We would not only stay there again, but highly recommend it to anyone else going to that area. Valdosta State University is very nearby and this would be a great hotel for family members coming to visit for a weekend or a few days! We had a queen suite that was like an efficiency apartment with a full-sized refrigerator, kitchen cabinets, microwave, and a cook top. The only reason I do not give this a 5 is because it is a budget chain and can't compare to a Hilton or 5-star resort. Also, we never did use the pool so I cannot comment on that. Otherwise, this place was perfect for our needs. PS - PET FRIENDLY (but let them know in advance). We had two (very angry) cats evacuate with us. The rooms seem to be well insulated because even though the cats were not always behaving the staff told me they never heard them! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good Enough For The Price

Sep 7th, 2019

We stayed at the Econo Lodge while driving back home from Florida. It was reasonably priced and close to the Interstate. The staff was friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is in need of updating, but for what we paid I cannot complain. I wouldn't book an extended stay here, but for a place to stay a night while traveling it fits the bill!
