RUN! Don’t stay here! 🤢🤮

On the road again .. up here in VA to work the N. Anna nuke plant refueling outage. Motels in this whole area around Richmond are wicked pricey. Did my research as usual and this econolodge had some decent reviews lately. Reserved a room. After 14 hrs of driving pulled in anxious to crash. Got the key to check out room before I committed. Opened door and gagged. It reeked of something nasty! Everything was filthy nasty. Bed slumped down in the middle like a 1000 lb. invisible Boulder was in it. Bugs. Lifted mattress and there were tiny blood stains on fitted sheet. Bed bugs? Just overall putrid! Huge group of motorcycle Gang staying there with swatstikas on their jackets. All this for $364 a week. Nah, I don’t think so. Called them and canceled. They offered me a different “nice” room. Really? Oh, the area really sucks too. Went right next door to Days Inn which had bad reviews just to scope it out. Not all that bad. Staying there for $320..... TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

The stay here was pretty decent for the price you pay. Front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful, the room was decent, and the breakfast was good. Hallways and outside of hotel seems clean . The internet was great, that, pretty decent hotel for the price you pay. :) TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

Good place for a respite off of I-95

True this is an older property, and the area is a little country-sketchy. But the very nice family who runs this hotel is doing a good job making the best of what they have. The carpet and furniture in the room are new-ish, and the room's been recently (re)painted. Honestly? Carmel Church/Ruther Glen is a BIG truck stop off of I-95, so you'll get some of that vibe. Ladysmith (~5 miles up Rt. 1) is the place to go for eats/grocery shopping. Good value for the price. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
