My wife and two children (3 & 6) wanted a relaxing and roomy accommodation. However, I search began with with scarce availability in Santa Fe and Taos. We called all around and couldn't find availability at any upscale hotel for the Saturday to complete our stay. We were impressed from the website with El Monte Sagrado, but it didn't list availability. So, I gave the hotel a call and was greeted late in the evening by Heather who typically works in night audit - but she was very friendly and eager to help. Heather found my family availability in the International Suites. All their suites are themed with a different country. She recommended Mexico or Morocco... we picked Mexico. So, let me tell you about our impression of the facilities and room when we arrived: My wife demanded a resort style experience, and this was nothing short of that. We were greeted by the valet and shown to the reception through several chandelier-lit outdoor passways. The foyer is beautiful, and the check in is several desks for a sit-down one-on-one experience. We were then ready to head to our room - Mexico. The room had two full baths, very tasteful, themed Mexico decorations, and good technology on the walls, wonderful piped in-floor heating, and I'd estimae 1,200+ sq ft. Lastly, we had a completely private outdoor yard with our room's own full-size hot tub. I expected to share it with the adjacent room, but that was not the case. This was our own, private slice of Taos just for our family. We were impressed with every aspect of the hotel, including the quality of the breakfast served in the restaurant. Back to Heather, thank you for your customer service and showing us a good time at Monte Sagrado and all your recommendations around Taos. We will return. -Jesse A Texas TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Friendly staff, beautiful grounds, and a great stay

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and loved our stay. Every time we passed a staff member whether it be someone from the front desk, housekeeping, valet, etc, we were given a smile and a hello. We loved the indoor pool area that was surrounded by plenty of plants and the rock stairs to enter the 10 foot deep pool were a cool feature. The tub and fireplace in the room were really nice for relaxing. We had brunch at the De la Tierra Restaurant which we really enjoyed - from the large fish tank that separated the bar and the restaurant, to the plethora of windows allowing plenty of natural light to come in, to the plants that separated some of the tables, to the food itself... we enjoyed it all. We definitely recommend El Monte Sagrado for anyone visiting Taos! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
El Monte Sagrado Board Retreat
Jan 13th, 2020
I organized a retreat for my board at El Monte Sagrado. Attendees stayed at the resort and we used the Library space and Gallery for our all-day meeting. The resort is beautiful, the rooms were fantastic, the meeting spaces were perfect, and the staff was amazing to work with. I would highly recommend staying at El Monte Sagrado for a relaxing weekend as much as I would recommend it for a corporate meeting. Everyone who attended was raving about how magical it was there! Best Hotel in Taos!

My wife and I have stayed in this hotel a number of times and have always been impressed with the rooms, the facilities and the staff. The location is walking distance to everything in Taos and the hotel setting itself is very pretty. The standard rooms are very nice and the casitas are great! Highly recommended. Some really good things, some need attention.

Let’s just start with the valet team and the services they provide, stellar, just awesome, from baggage handling to rides to town, some of the best I’ve encountered. Stayed in the Egyptian room, thought it could have used an update and a good cleaning. Would have preferred Southwest design. Chairs, totally outdated and the bathtub/shower had a step stool entry, would have been extremely hard for some people to navigate. Have stayed in other rooms and they had lovely bathrooms, this one was barely average. Made an appointment at the Spa, delightful! Melissa O gave me a massage that was one of the best ever and I work in a spa. She was knowledgeable and very sweet and kind! Was the highlight of our stay. Ate in the restaurant one night and the tapas menu was just perfect for what we had in mind. Service a bit slow, but the waitress was adorable. I gave this a four this time because anytime we are in Taos is a lovely time for us, think for high season prices they need to up their game a bit! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
