Taking advantage of COVID-era travelers!
Sep 21st, 2020
The hotel is average, unlike their adverts. The rooms are clean and appointed fairly well (ok—cheap furniture and definitely not special), but to have the same number of stars as the Rosewood in Santa Fe, for example, is a real stretch. Paper coffee cups, sheets that are for sure not cotton (very slippery and shiny) and air conditioning that is loud and works somewhat....not exactly delightful. The restaurant is below average at best, and speaking to my title, has absolutely ridiculous prices. We paid over $125 BEFORE TIP for a dinner of two small dinner salads (tomatoes, lettuce, corn and chips on top) and the fish tostadas with two drinks each. This might be ok if the dishes were excellent or the tostadas large, but they were on the little tortillas. We were starving after a dinner that wasn’t as good as your average airport bar. Finally, on the bill we were charged a $25 per day resort fee. These always crack me up anyway, but ok, we’re used to them. But now...for what?!?! During Covid times there’s no gym, no pool, no hot tub, no valet service (which other hotels are offering!!), no house keeping.... So- you’re paying $25 per day for WiFi and two small 8oz plastic bottles of water in your room. This is disgraceful. The hotel is clearly trying to make those who are able to travel during these odd times pay for the losses they’ve incurred by charging waaaay too much for cruddy, cheap food and resort fees. Sorry guys, I don’t remember getting a check in the mail when you were making your profits during the good years and I sure as heck don’t expect to have to help fund you during the rough years. You can find much better places to stay! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Great Stay at a Beautiful Resort!
Sep 11th, 2020
My fiance and I came to El Monte Sagrado for a Labor Day getaway from Denver and had a fantastic time! The property is absolutely beautiful, so lush, clean, and calming. Our room was also immaculate. There are of course certain precautions in place for COVID (the pool/hot tub and spa are closed, the spa is closed, dine in at the restaurant is closed, and they are only doing maid service on request), but even so it was a great experience! We arrived at the hotel just after 9pm and on our drive down we realized there would be no restaurants in Taos still open. We called the hotel to see if there was anyway we could have room service upon our arrival and Patrick at the front desk arranged for our meals to be the last orders placed of the night and the food was waiting in our room (still warm) when we arrived! Also, a big shout out to Marcos, the valet and shuttle driver. He was so nice, gave us great tips for things to do in Taos, and was just a very friendly valet driver! He also was working very hard! I saw him at the hotel at 9:30pm in the evening and he was back (still there?) at 8:00am the next morning and just as friendly as he had been less than 12 hours earlier. Highly recommend a stay here the next time you are in Taos! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
Restorative and Peaceful Experience in Taos NM
Sep 6th, 2020
We have visited this property several times, and this visit offered a similar, lovely experience. We booked a two bedroom, two bathroom casita and hunkered down in the most enjoyable ways. The suite/casita came with an outdoor hot tub and private patio and yard. We settled into northern New Mexican relaxation and enjoyed our stay immensely. The rooms, enormous in size, offer luxuriously comfortable beds. The huge bathrooms each came with full bath, and more than enough room for several people to maneuver. The living room came equipped with wet bar, coffee station, small refrigerator, and all the amenities one might need. We loved the fireplace, in front of which we sat many nights. We only ate breakfast at the property, but the food was delicious and the servers helpful and friendly. Of particular note are the blue corn pancakes, a must-try for visitors. The property has a small but serviceable gym, overlooking the gorgeous greens. All in all, an amazing property with the healing powers of Taos served New Mexican style. Stay here. You won't regret it. TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

We had heard Great things about this hotel/resort but has not had a chance to check it out. This week when we got rained out of our planned hike, we booked a room at the last minute and were very pleased with the results! It is a beautiful, peaceful place, inside and out. The staff are all extremely gracious. It was also a plus that for a reasonable fee we were able to bring our dog Ramah in as well. The photo provided is one of her looking in amazement at the armoire with cowhide doors. She has a faux cowhide bed at home so she thought this was very cool! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER

My fiancé then/husband now, our daughter, and I stayed here for a week in the beginning of August to privately elope. We chose a double bedroom room with a private hot tub, since the pools and Spa were closed due to COVID-19. We ate breakfast on our patio almost every day and room service dinner one of the nights while we were there. We arrived super-late and was still pleasantly guided to our room despite getting there at midnight. When you arrive, you are greeted by an amazing, crystal-embellished foyer. Our room was clean and spacious. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the bathrooms weren’t just clean and spacious, but had beautiful, intricate detailing (like tiny, iridescent tiles in the showers and carvings along the mirrors). The grounds were gorgeous! There were fruit trees around almost every corner. The squirrels ate breakfast with us! The sound of trickling water was on both sides of our room, one via a babbling brook and the other a gorgeous, goddess fountain. There were ponds, fountains, statues, giant boulders, intricate ironwork, bridges, and fields of soft grass. The restaurant was our favorite for breakfast. Upon first sight of the magnificent, golden anaconda, salt water aquarium, giant amethyst geodes, and lush flora growing inside, you just have to stop and take it all in. Breakfast was our favorite there and we opted to explore Taos for dinner most evenings. The staff could not have been more accommodating!!! They checked in on us periodically and made sure we had everything we needed to make our elopement special, despite the circumstances. Every single member of the staff from concierge (Marcos) to restaurant (Cameron) to Office personnel was a delight to speak with and get to know. The overall energy of this place is absolutely magical and we will definitely be back. We highly recommend! TRIPADVISOR.COM USER
